Vehicle Description

Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is offering this 1969 Chevrolet Nova 383 Stroker. Our featured Nova is finished in a dazzling fantom blue paint accompanied by a black vinyl interior. This coupe wears the quintessential Super Sport badging and vintage polished 15-inch rims to enhance the muscle car look! This Nova has just as much gone as it has show. powered by a strong 383c.i. stroker motor mated to a 3 Speed Automatic TH350 with GearVenders Overdrive and a 3.73 Posi rear end. This sweet Chevy is also equipped with an AM/FM radio, "Auto gage" gages, power steering, seat belts, spare tire, jack, Nitrous Bottle, and radial tires! The Nova story started with very humble beginnings for the 1962 model year. In the beginning, all Novas were called the Chevy II. The Nova name was designated as the top trim package in the early years. A tried-and-true compact car to compete with the Ford Falcon and designed to be more contemporary than the rear-engine Chevy Corvair that's concept proved to be a little too wild for the average American car buyer at the time. Sporting a more traditional set up the Nova was a car Chevy promoted a reliable and efficient compact car that was only available with a 4- or 6-cylinder engine the first 2 model years, but by 1965 a V8 could be ordered scooting Chevy little grocery-getter down the road quite quickly. For the first 2 generations of the Chevy II the car was offered in coupe, sedan, station wagon, and convertible body styles. As the Chevy II progressed its image changed along the way and the car could be ordered with Chevy's prestigious Super Sport Package making 327 and 396 engines available and specialty Novas were even available from places like Yenko Chevrolet, Nickey Chevrolet, and the internal GM C.O.P.O program suiting some of these Novas with the mighty 427ci rat motor! Our featured Nova falls into the third generation that ran from 1968-1972. Arguably the most popular Nova design these cars not only proved to be popular when new, but Nova's legacy has lasted years and years after rolling off the assembly line. In the five-year span of Nova's third generation, a whopping 1.3 million Novas were built! 250,900 were sold for the '69 model year! For the 1969 model year, the Chevy II named was dropped in favor of the more popular Nova name. The nameplate carried on until 1979 but no Nova before or after sparked the imagination of Chevy fans far and wide as the of the 1968-1972 glory years! At the time Chevy advertised this new design as the Chevy II much but they quickly learned buyers couldn't get enough of this small car that packed a big punch!
