1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II
The Lincoln Continental Mark II was the finest automobiles in
America in 1956 and 1957. One of the most influential designs of
the decade. Only 2,550 Mark II's were built during the 1956 model
year.
The Continental Mark II is an ultra-luxury coupe that was sold by
the Continental Division of Ford for the 1956 and 1957. The only
product line ever marketed by Continental during its existence, the
Mark II served as the worldwide flagship vehicle of Ford Motor
Company. As the most expensive American-produced automobile of the
time. The Mark II was marketed against the Rolls-Royce Silver
Cloud. Produced solely as a two-door hardtop coupe.
The Mark II has easy-to-read round-dial analog instrumentation that
includes a tachometer, oil pressure and amperage gauge all in
working order. The leather-covered dashboard and other standard
features includes power steering, brakes, antenna and windows with
tinted glass, a dual heating system, premium Travel-Tuner radio,
self-regulated electric clock, fully carpeted trunk. The Mark II is
so comprehensively equipped it has air conditioning, and the
condensing unit is housed in the trunk and four registers are set
in the headliner to deliver cool air to the occupants.
Open the hood of a Mark II, and under the die-cast ribbed rocker
covers that are part of the standard engine dress kit is the
368-cubic-inch V-8 (6.0L) that was overhauled in 1997. This
overhead-valve engine has a 4.00 x 3.66-inch bore and stroke, five
main bearings and a 9.0:1 compression ratio. The 368ci engine to
make 285hp at 4,000 rpm and 402-lbs.ft. The Mark II's exclusive
transmission was Lincoln's three-speed automatic Turbo-Drive. This
unit has a 16-inch aluminum torque converter with planetary
gearsets and forced air cooling, and it incorporates a kick-down
function and low-gear start. Gear ratio includes 2.40:1 in first,
1.47 in second, 1.00:1 in third and 2.00:1 in reverse. The brake
booster/master cylinder was rebuilt in 2011.
The stunning look of luxury can be seen in the newly reupholstered
interior. The leather door panels, and front & rear seats have just
been done ... Beautiful! The original paint color was Naiad Green
(41894) but was changed to Starmist White (8112). Body and paint
was done in 8/25/2016. Work was done by Mark II Enterprises in
Apple Valley CA. The correct Fire Stone Deluxe Champion
