Gateway Classic Cars Houston is pleased to offer this sweet 1953
Kaiser Manhattan sedan for sale. The Kaiser-Frazer Corporation
began in 1945, when it was formed as a joint venture between Henry
J. Kaiser and Joseph W. Frazer. Their first vehicles rolled off the
line in Willow Run Michigan in less than a year after the company
was formed. Initially, production numbers were good, but
Kaiser-Frazer struggled to keep up with the larger, more
established auto manufacturers. This shiny crme over green Kaiser
Manhattan is in what appears to be its original paint color scheme.
The interior is also very original in appearance, and features the
optional "Bambu" treatment, with dash trim and other trim areas
sporting the bamboo-like surface treatment. This Manhattan features
what appears to be its original drivetrain, consisting of a 226 CID
flathead 6-cylinder engine and a GM Hydra-Matic automatic
transmission. Inside, the interior looks original, with the
two-tone exterior color scheme carried over. "Bambu" vinyl-trimmed
bench seats have cloth inserts, and still have plenty of life left.
An extra oil pressure gauge has been added under the dash. This
Kaiser Manhattan is riding on a set of period correct BF Goodrich
Silvertown wide white sidewall tires, size 7.00-15. The chrome trim
and hubcaps add to the panache of the car. Don't miss out on your
chance to grab a rare piece of history! For more information on
