€" Hot Rod magazine review headline, December 2000 The
CarResources website provides a bit of the history of the Dodge
Challenger second series/first generation: The Challenger Coupe was
introduced in 1971, and it came with several improvements when
compared to the first series. For instance, the front grille
featured a different design. The engine didn't see an enormous
upgrade even though Dodge still provided you with a wide selection.
The Coupe had Inline-6 or a V8 as options. Buyers could still
choose a more powerful engine if they wanted to. Fully restored to
a very high standard in 2014, the '73 Dodge Challenger offered here
represents the model very well. Equipped with air conditioning,
it's ready for comfortable summer touring in style. The car's
exterior green-metallic paint is an original Dodge color and it has
been professionally applied here; the finish is uniformly glossy
and free of imperfections. This color catches the light in a very
pleasing way. The brushed trim surrounding the taillights is
beautifully restored. All badging and emblems are properly located
and in exceptional condition. The black vinyl top appears as-new.
Chrome bumpers and chrome body trim are similarly outstanding.
Lighting lenses are clear and free of cracks, as is all the cabin
glass. The Cragar® mag wheels are period-correct and might well
have been added to this model in the day; BFGoodrich Radial T/A
raised-white-letter tires are mounted. Inside, the green theme
continues with two shades of moss-green on the vinyl upholstery
(with a vertically pleated design) on both the front bucket and
rear bench seats. Door trim, cabin trim, and dashboard all display
the moss-green color. Instrumentation includes the left-of-center,
large speedometer with smaller engine-monitoring gauges extending
to the right, all behind the factory sport steering wheel. A Sanyo®
AM/FM/cassette radio is mounted in the factory-radio location.
Slide controls operate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning. The
bespoke 7- shaped automatic shifter is located on the
woodgrain-trimmed moss green console. Cabin floors are covered in
dark-green carpeting protected with rubber mats. Under the hood,
the 318 cubic-inch V8 has been fully rebuilt to stock standards.
All components are properly mounted, with coolant hoses,
air-conditioning lines, and wiring all properly routed. An upgraded
aluminum radiator is mounted. Viewed from below, the Challenger's
chassis is well-ordered and damage-free with the performance
exhaust headers a focal point. The car's VIN tag and data tags for
the build remain in place and have not been modified. While the
more than 170 high-definition photographs and the short
walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors
website showcase this '73 Challenger in detail, we expect and
encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan
showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our
showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch
anytime by phone or email if you have questions. CarResources noted
Even though the first generation of this iconic car had a
relatively short run, it impacted the auto industry as well as
popular culture. It became a phenomenon among the people who love
muscle cars and was featured in numerous movies and TV shows. As a
matter of fact, the movie 'Vanishing Poi
