Vehicle Description
This 1968-1/2 428 Cobra Jet Fastback Mustang dubbed "The Hemi
Hunter" is finished in Candy Apple Red with 27,723 miles (the title
reads mileage exempt). Power comes from a rebuilt, correct 428ci V8
Cobra Jet engine mated to a correct 4-speed manual transmission,
shifter and 4.30 rear end. The body panels are original, uncut and
were repainted in 2008, while the original Carlite glass, original
interior, including carpet, and console remain. This Fastback is
equipped with its original 735 cfm carburetor, original
distributor, smog pump, original starter delay that works, original
C8OE-6090-N cylinder heads and added larger exhaust pipes. Built on
April 26, 1968, this Mustang features the early blue painted
mid-plate, all correct original Ram Air assembly - not a
reproduction - and the Ed Clay Ford dealership chrome emblem. This
is one of 1,044 fastbacks and one of 54 with the 4.30 rear end and
4-speed. This Mustang was ordered and purchased by a mechanic who
worked for Clay Ford in Leavenworth, KS, and comes with the
original sales invoice, Buck Tag and Marti Report. This car was
featured in the February 2014 Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine
article "The Cobra Jet Set."
