For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

If you want to create a world class pro-tourer, there are a few simple rules to follow. For starters, base your build around a popular model. Keep the paint scheme memorable, the wheels tasteful and make sure to dial in the stance. And, for best results, throw in plenty of power, a capable chassis and a tailored interior that's comprised of carefully chosen materials. It's much more difficult than it sounds, but this exceptional Camaro adheres to that formula for a result that's nothing short of spectacular. Mixing big LS power and a choice Tremec 6-speed with a full Martz suspension and custom Ultraleather upholstery, no piece of this awesome F-Body was left unimproved. And if you're ready to rule the track and stop the show, it's the killer classic your heart desires!

BUILT FOR THE TRACK, TAILORED FOR THE SHOW

Built by Lenoir, North Carolina's HotRod Dynamics, this sweet Camaro was initially bound for the track. However, after a bit of thought, its owner decided he'd rather have fun just cruising the car around and parking it at a few local shows. That said, this is a fully sorted pro-tourer that, with the addition of a cage, could easily apex some turns. Naturally, this classic's show-stopping profile needed show-stopping paint, which manifests as GM Arrival Blue base under wet-looking clear. And today, this legendary Chevy rolls as one razor-sharp F1 that's poised to show and raring to go!

When it comes to muscle cars and body modifications, it's best to de-emphasize ornamentation. Too much era-correct bits will make the build look disjointed, and too much chrome just makes everything look tacky. Thankfully, this coupe's builders did a great job of placing form over function and keeping add-ons to a minimum. The show begins with a bumper-free, Rally-style front-clip, which hangs a subtle billet grille and modern halo headlights over a custom valance, '69 Camaro parking lamps and a distinct, D80-style chin spoiler. Above that grille, a shaved header leads a traditional Cowl Induction Hood, which draws the eye to a tinted greenhouse that stacks shaved drip rails on bright frames and mirrored wipers. Speaking of mirrored, a clean profile seats modern mirrors and flush Kindig It door handles above filled markers and seamless fender extensions. And, speaking of seamless, a seamless deck filler joins a seamless rear valance to frame a painted bumper, billet taillights, a trick fuel filler and a second D80 spoiler.

660 HORSEPOWER LS7

Sourced directly from Chevrolet Performance, and massaged by the good folks at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, this Camaro's hearty LS7 small block spins an easy 660 horsepower into 585 lb./ft. of track terrorizing torque! At the top of the all-aluminum beast, a remote filter element feeds a ported and polished throttle body that's cinched to a wicked Holley Hi-Ram Intake. That intake, wired with requisite electronic fuel injection, feeds CNC ported and polished heads, which stack titanium retainers and titanium locks around Lingenfelter high performance dual valve springs and a Lingenfelter multi-angle valve job. Beneath those heads, quality GM internals join a hot COMP Lingenfelter Z06 GT21 cam to create stout 11.5 to 1 compression. Lubrication is provided by a retrofitted wet-sump system. Cooling comes courtesy of a bowtie-capped radiator that's finished with a clean closeout and two electric puller fans. A fluid serpentine drive spins a polished alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. Custom coil covers cap clean Accel plug wires. And a rhythmic symphony of octane-fueled growls pulses through long Stainless Works headers. The car's tidy engine bay impresses, all the way from its smoothed firewall to its custom brace bars and billet hood striker. And details like billet hood supports, billet fluid reservoirs and a liquid-filled Marshall fuel pressure gauge add both form and function.

PUTTING THE PRO IN PRO-TOURING

Park this Chevy on a lift and you'll find solid floorpans that frame modern aftermarket components in a subdued coat of Satin Black skin. A tough hydraulic clutch kicks a proven Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed, which transfers power through a quality Performance Engineering & Manufacturing driveshaft. That tube twists a dressed 12-bolt axle that's finished with a posi-traction differential. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering leads a Martz Chassis front-clip that's complete with a big sway bar and modern coil-over-shocks. Opposite that clip, a Martz Chassis 4-link makes excellent use of a second sway bar and two more modern coil-overs. Electronic power assist cinches both GM and Wilwood calipers around a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers into custom, three-inch pipes, which position welded mufflers behind an X-shaped crossover. At the corners, stylish Billet Specialties blades spin 235/40ZR17 Pirelli Super Sports in front of 315/35R17 Nitto NT05Rs. And choice detailing include wide mini tubs and strong subframe connectors.

SUBSTANCE AND STYLE

Behind the solid-closing doors you'll find a thoughtfully customized cockpit that wraps tons of classic flash in miles of modern flair. French-stitched Ultraleather dresses sculpted TMI buckets that recline for the driver and front passenger. A monochromatic dash hangs sweet Dakota Digital VHX telemetry next to controls for power windows, cool Vintage Air conditioning and modern Bluetooth audio that bumps a quartet of crisp speakers. A suede headliner shades tight Daytona Carpet that's spiced with a billet shifter and billet foot pedals. Custom side panels twist billet handles in front of billet jamb vents. The driver spins a Billet Specialties Formula steering wheel around a tilting column. And naturally, this Chevy's trunk has been customized to match!

Well-built, fully detailed and attention grabbing in every way, this Camaro finds the perfect midpoint between show and go. And, created in adherence to the basic tenants of the pro-touring movement, you can rest assured that its appeal won't fade with time. If you're ready to bring home one of the coolest Chevys we've seen, free up some garage space and give us a call!
