this Corvette body style. This Corvette is totally solid with great
lines. It is absolutely loaded with sought-after options such as
power steering, power brakes, power windows, tilt/telescopic

This Corvette is "Numbers Matching" meaning that engine in the car

at the factory. The last six digits of the VIN, 507451, are stamped
on the engine pad, which is pictured in this ad, and the engine is
original to the car.

Model Description
The 1972 Corvette was truly the end of an era. 1972 was the last
year to feature chrome bumpers and the "egg crate" grill, it is
considered to be the last year of truly classic Corvettes. Years
after were more at the mercy of insurance companies, fuel prices,
and emission concerns, 1972 is considered the last "good" year. It
was also the last year to feature a pop out rear window, and the
first year that the way horsepower ratings are measured changed
from gross to the more accurate net. As in investment, the 1972
will always have an advantage and out perform other years because
of its precedence as the end of a very great period for Corvette
and muscle cars as a whole.
Exterior
The Copperhead Orange exterior is in excellent driver condition. As
one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss, deep
shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. The
chrome and other bright looks great with and a brilliant finish and
no pitting. The 17 inch polished aluminum wheels look great on the
car and are a real compliment to the beautiful color. The wheels
have a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The tires are literally
brand new with less than 20 miles on them. There are no major
blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos.
There are a few very tiny imperfections and cracks around car that
were too small to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is
really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see
in the many photos of the underside this car is very clean
underneath. The frame is totally solid around the "key hole" area
in front of the rear tire. We have included specific photos of the
areas most prone to rust to show how nice this car looks.
Interior
The saddle interior of the Corvette is in outstanding condition.
The seats look just as good in person as they do in the photos with
no excessive wear, holes or split seams. The seats are not overly
worn in the typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in
and out. The carpet is in also in great condition with no stains,
rips, or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often
neglected. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are
clear. The radio works well and gets good reception. The dash and
console are in great shape with no fading or sun damage. The door
panels are in good condition overall. The original jack and jack
handle are still with the car stored correctly in the storage
compartment behind the passenger seat. This Corvette has never been
smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes.
Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well and the
excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the
meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its
life.
Mechanical
This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. The
original numbers matching engine starts right away every time, runs
well, and idles smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road
and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car
accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all
the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves.
Please note that there are no vibrations or strange noises and the
car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do
not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shift well
throughout the power band. The car runs cool and does not overheat.
The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the
engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see
in the photos.
The radio works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights,
wipers, power windows, and indicators. The entire vacuum system for
the headlights and wiper door works correctly from both their
respective switches on the dash and the override switches. All of
the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The blower
works on all speeds but high. The wiper door works, but is a bit
finicky and could probably be adjusted. This Corvette has a very
healthy exhaust note as one can hear in the video. Not enough can
be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car,
especially with the T-Tops out on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1972 Corvette is in fantastic driver condition. The
beautiful color combination, the numbers matching engine, the
stylish wheels, and excellent condition make this Stingray
especially important and very hard to duplicate. Numbers matching
is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see, this
car is quite correct. There are photos of the VIN stamp on the
engine block, suffix code, and engine assembly date. The odometer
shows 55,870 miles. We are not sure if that is actual mileage and
so we are selling the car as nonactual. In my opinion and based on
our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most
collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now.
The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years.
They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily
buy this car now, enjoy it for several years, and sell it for more
than the purchase price with minimal effort.
Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call
with any questions.
