Vehicle Description
This 1964 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 is a full-size hardtop with a big
Tri-Power V8 to make sure you get full-strength muscle. And with a
ton of great investments, including glossy paint, a loaded A/C
interior, an overdrive transmission, four-wheel disc brakes, and
well-done suspension are all about making this an all-around
awesome machine.
This is the inaugural year for the 2+2 trim. The idea was to bring
added performance and style to the Catalina, and so this example
has been given the right investments to uphold that feeling to the
fullest. It starts with the factory-correct Nocturne Blue being
resprayed later in life so you have a glossy finish with a hint of
metallic. The imposing stacked headlight look has added
sophistication with the extra-bright bumpers contouring to cradle
them. This same chrome king hugs the front end as it connects with
the rocker trim. The full side trim zooms to the back as it
connects with the form-hugging rear bumper. And this is an integral
part of the taillights that encase the whole rear fender cap. But
there's a bit more going on here than just stock appeal. The bright
17-inch alloys hold modern sport tires, and this has a cool custom
hood scoop with the 2+2 badging. It gives this classic an extra
dose of attitude and hints at the upgrades within.
The deep blue interior mixes with the blue exterior to give
European-like color combo. But while the 2+2 name in Europe meant a
small back seat, Pontiac's 2+2 was quite the opposite. This is a
full-size car, and so there's a ton of hip and leg room in the back
to make this terrific for sharing with family and friends. The
correct Delco AM/FM radio even still works to keep them all
entertained. But where Pontiac got the European part right is by
focusing this car on the driver. Bucket seats, a center console,
and upgraded gauges - including a tach - mean you are always the
top priority. There are great classic pieces like the wood-rimmed
steering wheel, wood-like dash, and long speedometer. This has the
ultra-desirable power window option, and so that means you can roll
down all the windows and show off the pillarless hardtop profile
without leaving the driver's seat. And with the air conditioning
blowing cold with modern R134a refrigerant, it's easy to enjoy this
feeling even in the summer.
Your favorite upgrade of them all may just be under the hood. Not
only have you been upgraded to the top-dog 455 cubic-inch V8, but
also this is topped with Pontiac's famous triple set of dual barrel
carbs. Plus, the consignor states this is part of a full
performance build that includes a block bored .30 over, a mild cam,
forged pistons, forged connecting rods, and Edelbrock Performer RPM
aluminum heads. It fires up with authority as long tube headers
feed an X-pipe Flowmaster dual exhaust. The 700R4 four-speed
automatic transmission is the ideal upgrade to give you a stout
setup that also has overdrive comfort. As you look underneath, you
can spot a fresh style, including an upgraded rear suspension that
will give you confidence on the road. You also have power steering,
power brakes, and upgraded four-wheel discs.
This is a distinct Pontiac that is ready to show off. That's why
the sale comes complete with the original warranty card,
