Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1973 Land Rover 88 Series
III. With only two Atlanta owners for the last 21 years, this truck
has been serviced for two decades by the legendary English car
specialist Chic Newman, whom we adore but others seem to either
love or hate. Say what you will, he was particularly good with Land
Rover Series trucks. Although the finish is showing patina
throughout, we appreciate how remarkably straight the body is (most
of these unrestored Land Rovers are beat up and rusty). Rocky
Mountain aluminum side curtains are installed atop the doors, and a
hard-to-find hoop set for a full canvas hood is also fitted
(although only the pictured bikini top is present). A full hard top
and rear door are available upon request.
The interior has been updated with three individual bucket seats
from a Defender plus a modern AM/FM stereo with USB and aux input.
Factory gauges work, instrument lights work, and the exterior
lights are all working. A roll bar with three point seat belts adds
a measure of safety (it's removable for either the daring or the
purists).
The 2.25 liter petrol four cylinder runs well and was rebuilt a few
years ago in Chic's shop. Four-speed manual gearbox has the typical
crunchy second gear synchros but works well and the clutch feels
good. Recent brake job. We believe this left-hand-drive Series III
has always been in the U.S. (Land Rover ceased exports to the
states in 1974). For more information about this 1973 Land Rover
Series III for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, please call
