Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is excited to offer this sharp 1951
Hudson Hornet. If you have children and have ever seen the "Cars"
movie then you will recognize this car instantly. All Hornets from
1951 to 1953 were powered by Hudson's high-compression straight six
"H-145" engine. In 1954, power was increased to 170 HP from 140 HP.
Starting in 1952 an optional "twin-H" or twin one-barrel Carburetor
setup was available at an additional cost. An L head (flathead or
side valve) design, at 308 cu inch (5.0L) it was the "largest
displacement six-cylinder engine in the world" at that time. It had
a two-barrel carburetor and produced 145 HP at 3800 RPM and 275 LB
of torque. The engine was capable of far more power in the hands of
precision tuners, including Marshall Teague, who claimed he could
get 112 miles per hour from an AAA or Nascar certified stock
Hornet, as well as Hudson engineers who developed "severe usage"
options (thinly disguised racing parts). The combination of the
Hudson engine and overall road-ability of the dirt and the very few
paved tracks of the 1950s. The newly introduced "Twin H-power" was
available in November 1951 as a dealer installed option at the cost
of $85.60. An electric clock was standard. The total production of
the Hornet in 1951 was only 43,656 units. This 6-cylinder automatic
Hornet is claimed to be the powered by the numbers matching
drivetrain. This is a sharp driver quality car that has a unique
brownstone color with similar cloth interior. Options on this car
include; Am radio, Hub caps, Seat belts, wide white walls and
raised white letters. The owner claims that they recently rebuilt
the engine and trans, cleaned and resealed the gas tank, redone the
brakes, gas line, and etc! If you are looking for a head turner at
