Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is thrilled to offer this
tire-smoking RestoMod 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T convertible
marketed on consignment with our Arizona showroom, located in North
Phoenix. The Dodge Challenger has always been a muscle car legend
but true convertible models are hard to come by with less than
1,200 being manufactured in 1970. This car is one of them and has
been de-coded as a factory Hemi Orange convertible with a 383
Magnum/4spd powertrain. According to the seller, who himself has
owned the vehicle since 1982, this Challenger has spent its life in
California and Arizona. The Hemi Orange has been re-shot with a
Black R/T stripe down either side and the Matte Black fiberglass
cowl hood has a thermal coating to prevent warping. The rear
fenders were opened up just enough to add those fat rear tires! All
paint and body work was fabricated and finished by Restorations by
Rob in Buckeye, Arizona- a Mopar specific outfit- who also refitted
the power-operated convertible top and hydraulics. There was no
expense spared on the engine work either which was done by an NHRA
specialist in Tempe, Arizona- the 471 CID V8 motor pumps out 510hp
and 600lb ft of torque according to the seller's records and is
loaded with performance parts such as aluminum heads, Crane roller
rockers, forged pistons and a Hughes cam. The Victor intake has
been set up for NO2 with twin tanks in the trunk but it has never
been used. A Ron Davis radiator with dual electric fans takes care
of cooling and this Mopar has some ATTITUDE with a loud performance
exhaust system comprising of Hooker headers feeding 3.5"dual
cut-out pipes. The Hemi 4-speed manual transmission was mated with
a dual friction clutch and stronger bellhousing and feeds a a
chrome moly driveshaft to the Dana 60 rear end with Detroit locker
and 4.10 gears. Inside this Challenger R/T you'll find that the
entire interior has been refreshed but there's a lot of heritage
present with the stock dash gauges, door panels and center console
with signature "Pistol Grip" shifter. Upgraded Braum Black vinyl
race seats with harnesses will keep you feeling secure while
putting this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T through its paces. This
RestoMod is done right- it looks great, sounds great and drives
great not to mention the history of being a real Challenger
convertible holds a lot of value. You're not going to want to let
this opportunity pass you by! Give our helpful and knowledgeable
