Vehicle Description
This custom Ford hot rod started life as a 1935 Ford pickup and
retains its all-steel body. Over 3,000 hours of hand-fabrication
went into the sheet metal alone. The channeled cab is stretched 12
inches to give plenty of leg room, as the top is conservatively
chopped and utilizes a 1936 Ford sedan roof section. The firewall
was redesigned to match the architecture of the package. The
hand-built nose assembly is one piece and hinges forward to give
access to the powerplant. The bed assembly is hand-built, and the
entire truck is freshly repainted in a 1950's-look show-quality
gray-green. The interior features new 1950's-style tuck-n-roll
upholstery, Dynadeck flooring material, new instrument panel
featuring old-school Stewart-Warner and Sun gauges surrounded by
genuine Fender Guitar pearloid pick-guard material and Vintage Air
in-dash air conditioning. The one-off chassis was professionally
designed in CAD and was laser cut from sheet steel and
professionally TIG welded to form a show-quality foundation. It's
equipped with Super Bell front axle and disc brakes, Pete & Jakes
dampers, Halibrand quick-change rear axle and rear Bendix drum
brakes. Powering this 2,600-pound hot rod is a 2.3-liter race-bred
Oldsmobile high-compression, twin-cam, 4-valves-per cylinder QUAD 4
engine with chain-driven cams, Holley 2300 carburetor and coated
and wrapped headers that split into dual exhaust. The ignition
system is crank-triggered (distributorless), the coils and advance
module are hidden behind the firewall and the secondary wires are
period-correct. Shifting handled by a TREMEC T-5 5-speed manual
transmission with 4:11 gears in the quick-change rear end. This hot
rod rides on a set of Halibrand replica wheels wearing wide white
Coker Classic tires. It has been featured in numerous custom and
rodding magazines and has adorned the cover of America Rodder.
