This rare ownership opportunity is headlined by the revolutionary 'Wankel' Rotary engine. The Rotary engine defied the norm with its design by featuring a triangular rotor that revolves around the combustion chamber instead of traditional pistons, resulting in a much smaller displacement. On top of this, the engine was so light and compact that it could be mounted behind the front axle and meant the RX-7 could achieve a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Following the initial success of the 12A engine, Mazda introduced the slightly higher displacement 13B rotary engine with a larger output of 135hp that was exclusive to the GSL for 1984 and 1985.
