Blue complemented by a Dark Blue interior! A very early 1963
production example with original date-code correct components,
along with some upgrades to include aluminum knock-off wheels,
Hurst shifter, one-touch headlight operation, and a more modern
audio system! A wonderful Classic Corvette example featuring
numerous new parts. Very nicely sorted and a great driver
investment for anyone in the market!
Brief History About Chevrolet's Corvette Model:
The Corvette chassis and body shape were both completely redesigned
for 1963, including a new Coupe model available for the first time!
The hood would showcase simulated hood vents, and new lightweight
aluminum knock-off wheels we offered as a dealer installed option.
Engine choices were a carryover from 1962, but underneath, the
chassis now incorporated an independent rear suspension with a
transverse rear leaf spring. Additionally, the manual 4-speed
transmissions we changed from Borg Warner to Muncie this year. All
in all, the new C2 design became the footprint of the most
collectible Corvettes produced through 1967, referred to today as
the Mid-years.
About Our Available C2 Corvette Example:
We are excited to offer this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible
finished in color code correct 912A- Silver Blue over 490B- Dark
Blue vinyl interior, with a white convertible soft top. This is a
very early example bearing chassis #265 indicating it was one of
the first 300 units produced for eagerly waiting Chevrolet
showrooms! Power comes from a date-code correct 327ci/ 340
horsepower V8 mated to a M20 Muncie wide ratio 4-speed manual
transmission with improved Hurst shifter. Upgraded features include
new cast aluminum wheels by Corvette America wrapped in 1"
whitewall radial tires, Custom Autosound AM/FM/Aux/MP3 radio in the
stock location, and single switch electric headlight operation by
Detroit Speed Inc.
It has been recently restored in frame-off fashion including fully
rebuilt mechanicals. The engine was rebuilt with the block & heads
resurfaced for an optimum mating surface but did eliminate the
original factory VIN & suffix stamps. The block casting number
reads #3782870 with casting date H 14 2 (August 14th, 1962) which
corresponds with an early September 1962 production vehicle, with
factory trim tag showing body #140. This Corvette beauty also
retains the Winters foundry aluminum intake #3794129, correct
Carter AFB 3461S carburetor, finned aluminum valve covers, 7-blade
clutch fan, and double-hump heads supporting what we strongly
believe to be its factory issued drivetrain. The under-hood
presentation has been beautifully detailed to include period tower
clamps and GM hoses, original heat shields, proper chrome air
cleaner, exhaust manifolds, and Harrison surge tank.
Further examination of this Corvette underneath will show all new
suspension components including new rear leaf spring, all fresh
braking system, new exhaust, rubber body bushings, and fuel system
components. A remarkable amount of time and expense were
contributed to make this a splendid road example with factory
original appeal! To learn more about this Silver blue, 1963
