Gateway Classic Cars of Nashville is proud to digitally present to
you this Plum Crazy Purple 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A. Introduced in
fall of 69; for the 1970 Model year, the Challenger was one of two
Chrysler E-body cars, the other being the slightly smaller Plymouth
Barracuda. Positioned to compete against the Mercury cougar and
Pontiac Firebird in the upper end of the pony car market segment,
it was a rather late response to the Ford Mustang, which debuted in
April of 64'. Even so, Chrysler intended the new Challenger as the
most potent pony car ever, and like the less expensive Barracuda,
it was available in a staggering number of trim and option levels,
with virtually every engine in Chryslers Inventory. The Challengers
longer wheelbase, larger dimensions and more luxurious interior
were prompted by the launch of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, likewise a
bigger, more luxurious and more expensive pony car aimed at
affluent young American buyers. This sweet example of a 1970 Dodge
Challenger T/A sports a healthy 340CI V8 motor toped by a triple
two-barrel carb six pack intake setup mated to that tough 727 3
speed automatic transmission and a 3:23 sure grip rear end. This
plum crazy purple pavement eater is not something to be messed
with! This Challenger is coated in that beautiful Mopar Plum Crazy
Purple paint with a factory black vinyl top and matching black
vinyl interior. This vehicle has gone under an extensive
restoration and has been in the owners collection for over 15
years. This vehicle features the following options: AM/FM radio,
Spare tire, jack, hub caps, power brakes, power steering, seat
belts, vinyl interior, radial tires, rally wheels, positive
tractions. This 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A can be seen in greater
