Up for sale in our Detroit Showroom is a 1963 Mercury Comet Gasser
named The Instigator. A gasser is a type of hot rod originating on
the dragstrips all around the United States in the late 1950s and
continued until the early 1970s. In the days before Pro Stock, the
A/Gas cars were the fastest stock-appearing racers around. Gassers
are based on closed body production models from the 1930s to
mid-1960s, which have been stripped of extraneous weight and jacked
up using a beam axle or tubular axle to provide better weight
distribution on acceleration though a raised stock front suspension
is common as well. This Gasser hasn't had much weight reduction
done having the power hydraulic tilt front end which contains the
350 CID Chevy small block and TH 350 transmission. This dominant
duo has less than 500 miles on the build and can rip pavement apart
with one stab of the gas pedal. From a dead stop, the posi traction
rear end with a 3.50 gear launch you forward like every strip of
pavement is a dragstrip. The paint on this Gasser looks amazing and
is completely custom throughout. The interior is a very clean and
factory looking vinyl with a Hurst shifter and a few additional
gauges that provide great comfort while manning this machine. If
you have always wanted that attention grabbing ride that has left
its footprint in automotive history, you need to drive a Gasser.
There is no feeling that can compare to the thrill ride of moving a
nostalgic monster through the streets. For more information
