Vehicle Description
This 1957 Cadillac Series 62 is an award-worthy classic that has
everything from a big fuel-injected heart to a feature-filled
leather interior. And not only is it an awesome custom total
construction, but also it was built by hot rod royalty. Yes, this
is Boyd Coddington's actual creation! So dig into all the details
on this pearlescent pink full custom build done by a true
master.
If you know Boyd's show, then you should already know this coupe.
They were commissioned by Hershey to make a car specifically to
launch an Elvis-themed banana and peanut butter version of Reese's
Cups. So what better way to say Elvis than with a pink Cadillac?
The color met with some contention on the show during the initial
discussions, but once it was on the car, the vibrant hue and the
deep metallic glow proved that Boyd really knew style. Coddington
is all about sleekness. So to complement the paint, he eliminated
the badging and door handles. And yes, he even took some of the
chrome trim away from this Caddy. It's hard to argue with this
results, because he made the rear panels smoother and the iconic
tailfins crisper. Plus, all the best brightwork is still in place.
The chrome front bumper is integral to the front end, and it's
shining and complete, right down to the Dagmars. The same level of
shine and style is seen in the rear. And if you were a fan of
American Hot Rod, you know those big and bright wheels were Boyd's
favorite for this car.
Inside is a tasteful and comfortable leather interior by the master
Gabe Lopez. The full custom setup is just as thoughtful as the
exterior. That's why the white upholstery has a hint of bold pink
to match the exterior color that returns on the dash. Even the
markings on the speedometer were turned pink to coordinate! The
interior continues the sleek theme, and so the dash is smoother and
cleaner than even the original Caddy. They still filled this with
all the best features, but now they are hidden in the custom center
console. It includes power windows, an AM/FM/CD/DVD/XM stereo, and
air conditioning. You even have an LCD screen and unique Reese's
badging with Boyd's engraved signature. Coddington creates real
driver's cars, and so this Caddy was built to stay a comfortable
cruiser. That includes a steering wheel that matches the exterior
wheels mounted on a tilt column. And the satellite navigation is
tuned in and ready to take you to Graceland.
The engine bay continues the award-worthy style. Sure, you'll be
mesmerized by the bold and sleek pink that's everywhere from the
inner fenders to the engine block. But also you can see a touch of
chrome on pieces like the valve covers, brackets, and custom air
grabber that really show the thoughtfulness of the whole build. And
because Coddington is a true hot rod master, the motor is far more
than just for show. He started with Cadillac's largest powerhouse,
the 500 cubic-inch V8, and made it even bigger. This is a 540ci
stroker motor that's fully built to include JE pistons, a Comp Cams
camshaft, Melling Oil Pump, fuel injection, and headers feeding the
dual exhaust. And as you look at the undercarriage, the photos
prove how detailed the build is and how fresh it still looks from
its time on the show. But a car like this was made for driving, and
so it also features a three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, and Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes.
This is so complete that the trunk even has a mini refrigerator
with the special Elvis Reese's Cups. So if your dream has even been
to own a fully-built star car, it's time to make it a reality. Call
