Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is pleased to present this
very sharp 1966 Ford Thunderbird, Town Landau edition. This is the
top of the line hardtop version for 1966, and was in the same
family for many years. Spend a few minutes with this pretty T-Bird
and it is clear it has benefited from an easy life and caring
owners over the years. The exterior is extra clean, finished in
Venetian Honeydew Yellow, with black vinyl top. The body looks
quite good, with nice gaps. The seller indicated the paint is
mostly original. Opening the door and looking inside is a real
treat. The interior Ford designed for these cars is just stunning,
with an abundance of switches, levers, knobs and chrome- all neatly
laid out in front, and overhead. The tilt-away steering column
makes entry and exit easy, and the seating areas are super
comfortable. Feels like you are in an episode of the 1960's
"Thunderbirds" TV show from back then, the difference being this is
real! Ford loaded these with power windows, brakes, steering,
locks, seats, and air conditioning, making them a joy to drive.
Duplicating this car today would surely cost a fortune. The
original, optional 390 4Bbl V8 still resides under the hood. It
starts, idles and runs well. One of the strong aspects of this car
is just how original it appears- inside and out, including the
enormous trunk. The Thunderbird was gravitated away from being a
direct Corvette competitor in the 60's, to a more sophisticated,
luxurious automobile while still maintaining a sporty appeal. It
set a trend, for sure, and is unmistakably Thunderbird on the road.
