1957, 62 Series, Coupe DeVille! The name "DeVille" is derived from
the French de la ville or de ville meaning "of the town". The first
Cadillac "Coupe de Ville" was shown during the 1949 Motorama. In
1956 the Series 62 Coupe de Ville was joined by the Series 62 Sedan
de Ville, Cadillac's first standard production 4-door hardtop.
Similarily to the Coupe de Ville, it was also more expensive and
more luxuriously trimmed that the standard 4-door Series 62. With
41,732 sold, it also easily outsold the Series 62 sedan in its very
first year. Given their sales success, it was only natural that the
Coupe de Ville and Sedan de Ville were moved to their own separate
series in 1959. Our jaw-dropping electric blue exterior, with more
subdued, but showroom new looking blue interior, Cadillac Coupe
DeVille makes a huge impression sitting still or taking up a grand
amount of real estate while rambling on the motorway! An aggressive
attack on your senses begins while examining the front, featuring a
bullet-tipped grill that is attached to a massive chrome,
wrap-around bumper. Toward the tail of this colossus vessel,
jet-style fins, aircraft lights and propulsion-style ports on each
end of the rear bumper give the impression that flight could be
in-the-near-future! Once inside, a different feeling takes over. A
feeling of comfort, sophistication and calm await the driver and
passengers. The interior is outstanding and appears to be re-done
by craftsmen. Under the hood is the standard 365 V-8 powerplant
affixed to a hydramatic, automatic transmission for smooth
shifting! This Caddy also features power seats, power windows,
