Launched to acclaim in 1984, Ferraris stunning new Testarossa
recalled the iconic name of Maranellos Le Mans-winning
sports-racers and created a massive sensation. Sporting a
mid-mounted 4.9-liter Flat-12 engine delivering 390 horsepower and
gorgeously flowing Pininfarina styling, the new Testarossa debuted
as the fastest Ferrari road car ever produced. Importantly, the
Testarossa forced Lamborghini to up its game considerably,
resulting in uprated versions of the Countach, eventually spurring
Ferrari to release the updated 512TR at Geneva in 1992. However, to
many Ferrari enthusiasts, the original Testarossa is the car to own
today, with its iconic original styling cues. While capable of
hitting 190 mph flat out, the original Testarossa delivered a
surprisingly comfortable and user-friendly experience to match its
shattering all-around performance. The Testarossa has also proved
to be a most reliable and durable Ferrari model, capable of
clocking significant mileage without complaint. According to
renowned Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, just 7,177 of these
thoroughbred performers were built in all from 1984 to 1992.
Offered on behalf of one of our great clients, this 1988 Ferrari
Testarossa was purchased out of California in 2006 and comes from
15 years of single-owner care. A folder of service records dating
from new accompanies the Testarossa, which received a new clutch
and upgraded exhaust system in 2006 at 53,933 miles. Current
mileage is only about 54,550 miles just over 600 miles of use since
the current owners acquisition! Caring ownership includes winter
storage at The Last Detail since purchase in 2006. An oil change
and detailing were recently performed. While the engine is due for
a timing-belt service, the Testarossa is in excellent running order
as-is and ready to deliver an awesome driving and ownership
