This car actually IS special and has the story and documentation to
go with! The LT5 powerplant outsourced to Mercury Marine by General
Motors shell-shocked the world when it was released. American
muscle stood proud with some serious bang for your bucks and
performance number to make everyone think twice. On a test track a
group of drivers broke the 24-hour endurance record by 15mph, and
two years later the ZR1 took first and second in the 23-hour World
Challenge race in Canada. As with any performance engine there were
gremlins and critics - many of which came down to uneducated
technicians or owners. Looking under the engine bay of this example
you'll notice a lot brighter engine than most ZR1s. Not only has
the top end been polished to a fine shine, but the car was
tuned/optimized for todays fuels. Haibeck Automotive Technology are
some of the best known LT5 specialists and can do everything from
basic maintenance to performance enhancement. This specific example
received some aesthetic goodies, and a basic tune for the engine.
It runs great! A laminated window sticker and some documentation
come with the car and show the original price over $60,000! With
