unfortunate victim of the popularity that Ford's Mustang enjoyed-
it was released 16 days earlier than the Pony Car but ended up
being overlooked as a viable alternative. Today, both cars remain
popular classics for different reasons; the Mustang enjoys a broad
appeal while classic Barracudas are coveted due to their rarity.
The large, sloping rear window that dominates the rear end of this
Plymouth was the largest piece of glass produced in the automotive
industry at the time of release. The Barracuda, based on Chrysler's
A-Body platform, offers a nice package as a fastback with 7 feet of
cargo space and room for seating 5. This example has extra curb
appeal thanks to an expensive Porsche "Guards Red" paint color that
is vibrant and hard to take your eyes off- this car was painted in
Bright Red from the factory. The original 273 CID 2bbl V8 has been
upgraded in this restored car to a 318 CID V8 that was first
offered for 1967 models. Heavy duty rear shocks and leaf springs as
well as Wilwood disc brakes provide sporty handling and sharp
stopping while the three-speed TorqueFlight automatic transmission
linked to a rear end geared 3.25 gives smooth, reliable shifting.
The 9" Ford housing for the differential is also an upgrade on this
vehicle. Check out the stunning factory style Black vinyl interior
on this Barracuda that oozes 60's nostalgia. The stock dash is
there with an added tachometer and engine monitoring gauges for
driver information. There's an aftermarket stereo installed inside
the glovebox as well to preserve the mostly original look. Front
bucket seats were standard equipment on the Barracuda. This is a
comfortable, fun car to drive and it would be a great way to get
into the classic car world for someone looking to stand out in the
