Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to present this 1962 GMC
Carryall - Suburban! Automobilia history is right here. The
Suburban nameplate is one of the most contiguous models in vehicle
history, and for General Motors one of the most profitable. In this
business you see a lot of cars. Here we like everything, but once
in awhile something that really strikes a nerve comes along and
steals our attention in a big way. Here is a vehicle that has been
properly and economically restored with tasteful modern upgrades.
For starters the engine is a late-model 5.3 LS engine that has the
traditional fuel injection taken off and a 4-barrel carburetor
affixed instead. The engine is said to have less than 10,000 on it
prior to installation. While this is not a first, it is certainly a
nice touch. You get the reliability and modern performance of the
LS engine family, but the look and feel of a classic carburetor.
The transmission is a 5 speed manual spinning a 4.10:1 rear end
gear. The combination makes this Carryall-Suburban get up and
around very nicely. This could be a family grocery getter,
roll-race, car show queen, or even your next work truck! Before
stripping off the old paint, they started with a clean Oklahoma
body. After laying down base coat and clear coat, new
weatherstripping and glass was installed throughout. The original
front seat has been refurbished, and new carpet installed. The
tires are radial tires from Coker Tire with the wide white look to
keep it looking classic. 1962 GMC Carryall - Suburban is for sale
