Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is proud to offer for sale
this restored 1965 International Harvester Scout 800. The Scout is
an off-road vehicle produced by International Harvester from 1961
to 1980. A precursor of more sophisticated SUVs to come, it was
created as a competitor to the Jeep, and it initially featured a
fold-down windshield. The Scout and second-generation Scout II were
produced in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as two-door trucks with a
removable hardtop with options of a full-length roof, half-cab
pickup, and/or soft top. This Scout features a rebuilt 304 CID V8
engine and 3-speed automatic transmission. The owner states
"complete ground up restoration". The Tahitian Yellow paint on the
body, along with all other paint, was done by Santana Paint and
Body in Houston. The original 2BBL carb setup has been updated to a
4BBL carb configuration, electronic ignition has been added, as
well as headers and side-exit dual exhaust. The fuel tank has been
moved, and now refueling is done through the bed (the body side
filler neck is for looks only). The wiring harness is new as well,
and all brake lines and fuel lines have been replaced. The rear
taillights have been converted to LED units, and the front brakes
have been converted to disc. A complete set of Equus gauges now
fill the dash, and a Sun tach has been installed as well. The black
synthetic leather seats are fresh, as is all the interior paint.
Virtually unused BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A K02 tires are mounted
on new blacked-out American Racing aluminum wheels. An AM/FM/CD
radio supplies the tunes, and a pair of speakers mounted behind the
passenger and driver belt out the tunes. If you're looking for a
freshly restored vintage International Scout pickup, this is the
one for you! Additional features and options on this 1965
International Scout 800 include AM/FM/CD Radio, Aluminum Alloy
Wheels, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Seat Belts, and Vinyl
Interior. For more information on this 1965 International Scout 800
