let the name fool you, this is NOT your grandpas old Pontiac. This
car has traveled back in time to that 1962 hot august night lining
up at the street light waiting for the flag to drop. This car is
ready to hit the strip or to hit that local car show where I can
guarantee you will not find another like it. This type of vehicle
is the epitome of what a gasser is. For those of you unfamiliar
with the term, Gasser refers to a style of drag race car that was
prolific in the late 1950s through the 1960s that ran on gasoline
fuel as apposed to race fuel. These cars typically competed in
heads up drag races that were classed by engine size and car
weight. In the faster classes these cars used a straight axel front
suspension that produced the intimidating stance that gassers are
known for. Easily recognized by the common features like higher
front end stance that was developed as a means of weight transfer
to the rear wheels for traction, this style became popular later as
builders attempted to achieve a traditional nostalgic race look.
This 1962 Pontiac Tempest features all of those nostalgic traits
including the straight axel front suspension, fender exit headers
and massive stack style injection but with all the modern day
necessities to be a great weekend cruiser. Now lets get to the
details. This car did undergo an extensive restoration and rebuild
but did not take away from the long hard life of a vintage drag
car. There is definitely a nice touch of originality to this
vehicle that can be seen in the patina paint and original styled
interior which has all been completely redone. Now to the Diamond
in the ruff. This massive 428CI Engine is dressed up with all the
goodies including a Performer RPM intake, 800 Double pumper Holley,
Don Garlits Street Induction air cleaner, Howards solid flat tappet
cam that just screams as soon as you hit that ignition. Putting
that power to the ground is a completely redone Turbo 400
transmission sporting a 3800 stall that absolutely rips up the road
paired to that 8inch ford with spool and 3.80 gears. If you are
