Vehicle Description
The 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS coupes are legendary for being cool
and comfortable cruisers. This V8 hardtop delivers on that iconic
feeling, right down to the button-tops on the bucket seats.
This is a defining year for the Impala. The roof line on these
coupes had a new design that truly made these look like hardtop
convertibles. And the rear end was redesigned to fully say goodbye
to the tailfin and usher in the power-ready 1960s. Not only do we
love these as milestones, but it also just seems like Chevy pulled
out all the stops on style. The curved windshield, wraparound
chrome bumpers, ribbed rockers, turbine-style wheel covers, and the
Impala's iconic six taillight arrangement are all part of this cool
cruiser attitude. There's a bit of patina in the trim and the white
paint has aged-in to give this one a bit of a survivor look. We
kinda like the style, but it also doesn't take much to get this
back to show-stopper status. That's because the lines are good, the
panels are straight, and the trim is complete. That why from nearly
every angle, the Super Sport's tapered brushed aluminum trim
running the full length of the car just looks like an arrow pushing
this coupe forward.
Red interiors look like they radiate front within the white
exteriors, and so you'll love rolling down all the windows on this
pillarless hardtop just to attract a crowd. And as they peek
inside, everyone will see more of the correct 1960s style. The
interior carries the correct bucket front seats and center console
to make this a true Super Sport. Plus, they're cool button-top
design coordinates with the door panels for a very period-correct
premium presentation. As a full-size coupe, there's plenty of room
to carry up to four family and friends along for the ride. And if
they love true vintage style, then this one will really impress.
The dash has a stylish brightwork presentation. This lends a
stylistic touch to everything from the heat/defrost controls to the
working Delco AM radio.
The 327 cubic-inch V8 is now an iconic displacement in the small
block Chevy circles, and that legend began in 1962. So it's
especially cool to have this size in this Impala. The whole bay
looks fantastically correct and clean, with the orange block,
matching valve covers w/callouts, nice GM hoses, and the stock air
topper w/decal. But if you look a little close, you'll see this V8
has a newer Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. It allows the V8 to
inhale deeper, run smoother, and make a subtly sweet tune from the
dual exhaust. So it really helps continue this Impala's easy
cruising nature. The same goes for features like the Powerglide
automatic transmission and modern Handkook touring tires.
