Vehicle Description
1969 Real Deal Oldsmobile 442
Why This Car Is Special
The Oldsmobile 442 was a muscle car produced by Oldsmobile between
the 1964 and 1987 model years that was introduced as an option
package for US sold F-85 and Cutlass models and became a model in
its own right from 1968 to 1971.
The "4-4-2" name derives from the original car's four-barrel
carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhausts.
We have a "real deal" 1969 Oldsmobile 442 here at Skyway Classics
verified by the Vin Number and the Trim Tag. The Vin #
344879M206340 means: 4-4-2 4879 2 dr. Deluxe Coupe.
Mechanics
All true 1969 442 cars came with the #344879 vin number and ours
has the correct born with 400 cubic inch V8 engine with its
four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual
exhaust and showing only a tick over 26000 miles on the
speedometer.
It has the factory correct block, valve covers, and intake all
painted in the correct factory gold paint, Quadrajet 4-barrel
carburetor, factory cast iron exhaust manifolds, power steering,
the red Olds 442 decaled factory air cleaner, power disk brakes,
front & rear stabilizer bars, the correct boxed trailing arms, all
the correct looking hoses and belts and that engine sits in a very
clean, painted and detailed engine compartment.
It is backed by the correct Muncie 4-speed transmission and a
factory stamped S5 code H.D. Rear end with a 3:08 posi unit as well
and rides on factory chrome 5-spoke Oldsmobile Super Stock wheels
and BF Goodrich Radial TA tires with a great exhaust note coming
out the back via the dual exhaust system.
Interior
The interior in our 442 is very original looking with its period
correct twin black front bucket seats with the floor console which
houses the Hurst 4-speed shifter and shifter ball, matching rear
seat, beautiful factory tilt steering wheel, tinted windshield and
Soft Ray tinted glass, headrests, matching door panels and
headliner.
The dash has all the correct gauges including Speed Alert, factory
tachometer and clock, buttons, instruments and knobs, 442 emblem,
correct wood grain trim, original radio in the center, original
seat belts and Oldsmobile floor mats, with carpet that is in very
good condition, and the truck is original with a factory Oldsmobile
logo trunk mat.
Exterior
Our 442 has a dark blue paint job with the twin scoop factory 442
and a pristine black vinyl top. 1969 4-4-2s were very similar to
the 1968's except the division tooth between the grilles, the trunk
lid inlets for the tail lights, and wing windows deleted on Holiday
Coupes.
All the 442 badging, trim, glass, bumpers, and the chrome are in
great shape as well.
