Gateway classic cars of Nashville is proud to digitally present
this 1964 Ford Thunderbolt Tribute. Since Ford decided to only
build 100 of these incredible cars a lot of builders out there have
been making their own for years and this is the nicest Tribute to
the Thunderbolt that I have seen. She is looking sweet all dressed
up in her Red paint that shines like a new penny. The interior
looks just as good and I am sure you have looked through all the
photos of this car so let get to the meat! The block is a 1986 NON
HO 302 that kept its original bore. The heads are from 1968 and
have been ported and had the larger 351 Windsor valves installed.
Comp Cams hydraulic roller bump stick lifts the followers pushing
hardened push rods to operate the roller tip rocker arms. Screw in
studs and guide plate keep everything working together. A double
roller timing chain keeps everything in sync. Intake is Edlebrock
performer (R) and has an Autolite 600 CFM carburetor sitting on
top. The transmission is from a 1987 Mustang and gives you one more
gear than you would have gotten in 1964. A ford 9-inch housing with
3.50:1 gears and a traction lock center section does the duty of
splitting the power between the rear tires. For the suspension up
front all new joints and bushing with an oversized sway bar. Rear
is leaf springs with custom made nylon adapters and traction bars
to help hold the power to the tires. The brakes were kept stock to
look the part but all new and are fed Silicone brake fluid. All of
the power steering components have been rebuilt and of course new
hoses were installed. I could tell you about the Dura Spark
ignition module, the radio, speakers and even battery cables as I
have the build book that is at least 3 inches thick. Please call
for more information and make this your new favorite classic.
