1967 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova Super Sport (283 V8 4-speed)
This stunner is an exceptional example of the classic Chevy II Nova with the desirable SS package. The tuned 283 V8 is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox and 10 Bolt 3.08 rear end. This one features a few extra tricks up her sleeve to deliver the perfect balance between a factory stock car and a tastefully upgraded street machine with extra performance, reliability, and safety.
The compact size, sharp looks, and healthy performance make these cars fun to drive and a pleasure to own. Daily driver or weekend show car, this American beauty is ready to drive anywhere.
This original California car is a real SS. It comes with all the original parts that I replaced or upgraded. It also comes with the original Protect-o-plate, original owners manual, and the original dealer license plate frames.
Exterior: The classy butternut yellow original color (Y-Y code) compliments the black “skunk stripe” interior perfectly. The grill and SS emblem, as well as the chrome locking gas cap are new old stock fresh. Modern BF Goodrich red-line radial tires on original Rally Sport factory-option wheels put this one's exterior looks over the top.
Interior: Inside you will find the clean black vinyl interior with SS “skunk stripes”, and an N34 walnut sport steering wheel with new old stock hub. The restored dash panels and instrument panel includes a rare “ribbon style” accessory tachometer and upgraded Shiftworks sport gauge conversion package. This car was ordered without air conditioning for a bit more power and less burden on the motor. The 4-speed shifter confirms the fun factor.
Engine & Drive train: The rebuilt 283 V8 features a custom grind RV profile camshaft, lifters and pushrods. Breathing is facilitated by an Edelbrock 4 barrel intake, carburetor and K&N high capacity air cleaner. The exhaust system has a most satisfying rumble through Hedman Elite long tube headers and Magnaflow performance mufflers. These upgrades are estimated to give the car an extra 30-35 horses over stock specs. An electric cooling fan was added for extra reliability. The radiator has been properly serviced for maximum cooling.
The Saginaw 4 speed transmission and shifter were also rebuilt. It is coupled through a new Hayes clutch kit, throw-out bearing, and rebuilt Clutch Z-Bar linkage. Final drive is a 10 Bolt 3.08 rear end differential.
Chassis, Steering & Brakes: Front brakes have been converted to power discs for added safety and stopping power. The steering box was rebuilt and features all new steering linkage with polyeurothane bushings and ball bearing idler arm conversion. The revised suspension features Moog USA made ball joints, Bilstein RCD Gas Filled Shocks, Calvert “Caltracs” traction bars, and Church Boys multi-leaf leaf springs. Furthermore new axle seals and bearings were installed. The previously mentioned radial tires top off handling improvements.
Electrics and Ignition: Pertronics Electronic ignition was installed with the juice running through MSD high energy ignition wires. A Power Master alternator was added, and the fuse block and under dash wiring have been replaced and or repaired where needed. LED tail lights were also added for safer night visibility.
