The MGA is long hailed as one of British Motor Corporation best
looking creations. Modeled for debut in 1955, it appeared with
elegant curves that truly highlight an all new classy, English
roadster. British Motor Company had long held onto its
full-fendered, pre-war characteristics well after most car
manufactures had abandoned them for sleeker lines and aerodynamics.
The MGA in all respects was a beautifully designed English sports
car that retained all the underlying performance spirit of the
T-Series it would replace, but had proven on the track. It has
cemented itself in the collector car world as a must-have for
driver enthusiasts!
We are delighted to offer this remarkable 1958 MGA in factory
correct Black with Red Leather interior! This example was seen an
exhaustive mechanical restoration by a passionate owner in the late
1990's. With everything mechanically restored, it is fair to say
this beautiful MGA far exceeded the quality of most when completed,
and today showcases as a well preserved driver enjoyed just 2,535
miles with the same owner for 24 years! Options include its fully
rebuilt, original 15GB code 1498cc engine and twin SU H4
carburetors, 4-speed manual transmission, 15" wheels Vredstein
155SR Sprint Classics tires, a single battery conversion, Jaeger
instrumentation, heater/defrost, telescoping steering column, banjo
style steering wheel, fog light, Blaupunkt AM/FM pushbutton radio,
black vinyl convertible soft top, aluminum side curtains with
storage bag hidden nicely behind the seat, a tonneau cover,
seatbelts, and rubber floor mats!
The restoration began with a splendid, rust free specimen that
received a full engine overhaul and all mechanicals renewed. As
time went by, the same owner since 1996 more recently decided to
properly restore the interior with soft red leather, the addition
of a console armrest, new vinyl top, new rear curtain to stow the
aluminum side windows, new tonneau cover, and door panels! Just
last year new Vredstein tires were installed, a new radiator, new
chrome hubcaps & trim rings, and master brake cylinder were fitted.
In July 2020 having arrived here at the St. Louis Car Museum, the
fuel pump was rebuilt, brake drums were turned, a new windshield
installed, a new polished stainless steel exhaust system fitted,
and well as general maintenance to include engine oil change, new
rear U-joint, turn signal relay & flasher unit, brake pressure
switch, and heater blower motor with repaired switch.
Even with the older paint finish, we cannot stress enough the
general quality this car possesses, the mechanical soundness, and
road ready nature it showcases! It will come with two sets of keys,
all spare tire changing equipment, engine crank, and spare drive
belt. The unique and distinctive sound from the exhaust tip will
notify all MG enthusiasts you are driving something very special! A
rare opportunity for the right sports car collector looking for an
affordable investment vehicle! Act quickly!
