History Of Corvette's First Generation Corvette Model:
The beautiful design of the 1962 Corvette showcased a few new
firsts, and said goodbye to a few attributes that wouldn't return
to Corvette models until decades later, if at all! The powerful
327ci V8 was introduced this year and would stay around for the
next seven model years. The exterior chrome trim highlighting the
side cove area disappeared leaving only color-matched paint, and a
single louver as the new accent. This would be the final year for
exposed front headlights, a solid rear axle, an external rear
trunk, and the availability of a power top. Things were about to
change for the next generation of Corvette, which is why the 1962
model remains one of the most coveted designs to have in
collections around the world!

This is a fantastic 1962 Corvette example that has traveled only
limited, fair weather miles since the completion of it's
outstanding body-off-frame restoration. This particular example has
also always remained in a climate-controlled environment when
parked. Close examination will reveal excellent attention to detail
to include proper GM hoses with tower clamps on the radiator hoses,
pinch clamps on the heater hoses, proper Harrison aluminum radiator
with correct part and date stampings, a stenciled chassis number,
suspension and drive-train inspections markings, T3 headlamps,
original spare tire, and even a date-coded trunk mat!
It remains remarkably correct, continues to run brilliantly, and
should not be a disappointment to anyone who is lucky enough to see
and enjoy it firsthand! The example seen here has a few paint
imperfections supporting that it has been previously enjoyed but
regardless,remains in overall excellent condition! A beautiful
Corvette that represents 1 of only 4,412 examples built with the
327ci/340hp power plant in 1962! Finding a solid axle C1 with this
sort of presentation is not easy to do!
