For Sale: 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is the Holy Grail of Bandit Edition Trans Ams. A 1977 black with black interior, t-tops and an automatic is what was portrayed in the movie. This one is also loaded with options and some really nice upgrades. It has been completely taken apart, body off the frame to a bare shell and restored from the ground up. Documented by Pontiac Historical Society and photos of the restoration.

EXTERIOR: Completely restored back to it's original Bandit Edition paint scheme. Genuine Starlight black car and ir has all the gold striping and decals. It also has new gold grills and snowflake wheels with gold accents. These wheels are the upgraded modern version. They're 17 inch with G Force performance tires. The body's been completely restored. It's all metal, the body panels fit real square and flush. Very straight with no door dings no rust bubbles. The emblems, door handles, rubber window seals, weather strips and windshield were replaced. It has removable glass T-tops.

INTERIOR: The inside of his car was completely gutted. It was prepped and primed and then covered with sound deadener material. I'm looking at a restored dash. New gold instrument panel and rally gauges are mint. The clock works. The formula wheel has gold spokes and is wrapped in hand stitched leather. Seats have excellent cushions and have been reupholstered. There is a center console between the two front seats and there's also a rare factory console between the two rear seats. Upfront is upgraded with a Hurst dual gate shifter. New carpet and custom Lloyd's embroidered mats. It has modern stereo with aux plug and hansfree option. 6x9 speakers in back. The plastic trim on the dlkr panels, kick panels, pillars etc are excellent. This deluxe interior also features a tilt wheel, power windows, power trunk and rear defrost.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Upgraded with modern performance and reliability. It has an LT-1 350 Chevy motor with fuel injection, upgraded air conditioning system, serpentine belt & pulley system, upgraded power steering and it has a Spectre air filter system. They did manage to adapt the shaker scoop and painted the motor Pontiac blue. Twin electric fans to keep it cool. It has a factory cruise control. The trim tag is on the firewall.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: New insulated mat. It has a collapsible spare tire with the air bottle. The jack is in the correct location. It has embroidered bags for the T-tops. New weatherstrip. It has a power trunk release that works.

UNDERSIDE: The subframe was completely removed, stripped and painted. New body bushings. Hotchkis Sport suspension with 3 inch drop. Front end is completely new- balljoints, bushings, coil springs, h.d. swaybar and shocks. In back it has new leaf springs, shocks and swaybar. The bottom of the motor is spotless, has high torque starter. Upgraded with 700R-4 overdrive automatic. Restored brake system, disc in front, e-brake cables are new. New fuel tank, straps, fuel lines. Custom exhaust with crossover pipe, Flowmaster mufflers and splitter tips. The metal is all rock solid.

Burt Reynolds would have loved this car. They retained the classic Bandit look while making some substantial improvements. We acquired it from a Bandit Trans Am collector. He insisted I drove it, once I did I understood why. It handles great- tight, responsive and no rattles. This is an opportunity to own a highly desirable car.
