BMW introduced the first of its Z series in 1989 in the form of the rather odd ball Z1 followed by the Z3 roadster launched in conjunction with the release of the James Bond movie, Golden Eye in 1995. In 1999 the Z3 line was expanded with the offering of the now cult classic Z3 Coupe, a "shooting brake" design affectionately referred to by BMW aficionados as the "Clown Shoe". One year after the release of the Z4 Roadster in 2006 came the Z4 Coupes. In 2009 the Z4 was redesigned and offered only in a hard top convertible. No Z coupe has been offered since.
This Z4 3.0i Coupe is a 2007 model and is thoughtfully equipped with the Sport Package and a proper 6-Speed manual transmission. All Z4 Coupes without the M package were powered by the 3.0 liter N52 straight six cylinder engine. This highly refined naturally aspirated engine is considered by many to be the best overall engine BMW has ever produced. Powerful, with gobs of low end torque; linear, with a power band that loves to rev up to its 7100 rpm redline; silky smooth in the decades long tradition of BMW building the worlds finest inline six cylinder motorcars.
This Z4 Coupe has under 100k miles and runs and drives excellent. It has been well maintained including recent ABS module replacement (a very common issue with this era of BMW's). Clutch and transmission are smooth, brakes in good shape. It accelerates with authority and sounds great doing it and of course it carves up corners like the world class sports car that it is.
All of the creature comforts are in working order and the sport seats as well as the interior overall presents extremely well. The pictures speak for themselves.
Combined worldwide 17,094 Z4 Coupes of both M and 3.0i varieties were produced. Of those only 3,919 were sold in the USA. 2,104 of those were 3.0i's but only 828 of those were equipped with the 6-Speed manual transmission. And you can bet that there were far fewer white cars built than black and silver. That makes this BMW a rare bird indeed.
In the realm of BMW Z4s the automatic transmission equipped cars fall a bit short on the Ultimate Driving Machine meter. The joy of rowing through the gears of the six speed manual on this car is sadly something most Z4 owners have never experienced and is the one thing that sets this car on a pedestal and ensures its status as a future classic. There are currently less than twenty Z4 3.0i Coupes for sale across the USA. This is the ONLY 6-Speed Z4 3.0i available as of this posting date.
