Interesting Fact: The Mustang was designed, engineered and launched
in just 18 months, a monumental feat. The design criterion
initially included: seating for four with bucket seats and a floor
mounted shifter, weigh no more than 2,500 pounds, no more than 180
inches in length, sell for less than $2,500 and to be offered with
many power and convenience options. They nailed it!! This is a
beautiful two owner since new 1966 Ford Mustang convertible that is
a nice original car that has been sympathetically restored as
needed. We love the combination of the blue on blue color
combination, 289 CID V8 and automatic transmission. This is nice
enough for any local or regional show and it drives very well,
being well loved for the past 53 years! It is now ready for its
next new, loving and careful caretaker. This car has had the
pleasure of transporting VIPs through numerous parades, including
Miss America contestants, a governor, a senator, etc. This Mustang
was bought new on January 18, 1966 from Pletcher Ford in
Jenkintown, PA by Mr. T. John McAlonan. He purchased it as a gift
to his wife to help celebrate their wedding that year. Mrs.
McAlonan enjoyed the Mustang for the next 43 years and 74,000 miles
until it was finally sold it to his good friend and fellow Country
Club member, Albert Cowling of King of Prussia, PA. Albert has been
a lifelong car collector and continued to enjoy the Mustang and
participate in local and regional car shows until he recently sold
it to us. This car has always been garage kept, well serviced and
has never had any rust or rot issues so common with Mustangs. This
Mustang was been once partially repainted in the original Arcadian
Blue (Paint Code F). The repaint is highly serviceable with great
gloss and shine with very straight body panels and gaps throughout.
It would be proud to be in any local car show, but isn't a concours
repaint. The repaint was mainly to clean up some chips and scrapes
on the drivers side that had accumulated over the previous four
decades. There are many areas which retain the original paint, such
as the underside of the hood and certain trim areas, which
maintains this as a nice survivor. Most all of the chrome and
stainless are all original and in very nice condition. The bumpers
are all original and look great!! The overall look is very nice and
consistent, urging you to drive her out to dinner or for a weekend
getaway drive. The interior features Blue with Blue Trim (Trim Code
22) and most all of the upholstery was replaced with all correct
high quality materials. It had been replaced under Mr. Cowling's
ownership in 2011. The only item that isn't really nice is the
original blue steering wheel which has two small cracks in it. The
blue loop carpeting looks terrific and it is obvious that she's
seen little wear since being installed. The black vinyl electric
powered convertible top works beautifully and is in excellent
condition. The Mustang is a C-Code 289 CID V8 featuring 200 hp and
paired with the C4 three speed automatic. The Mustang now has
accumulated 94,400 miles since new and has been loved and cared for
its entire life by two owners. The entire drive train is tight and
the car runs and drives very well. The Mustang comes complete with
its original owners manual, a couple other service manuals, various
receipts and documentation. Also included are two sets of keys,
with one set being the original set that was delivered with the car
back in 1966!! We have this priced well. The base Hagerty price
guide values are: No. 2 example at $34.8k and a No. 3 value at
$26.8k. The two ownership history and originality bumps these to
about $40k and $31k, respectively. This won't last long. We have a
special place in our hearts for this Mustang. For more information
