Mustang Shelby GT350R. Yes, this is an actual GT350R, not just a
GT350. This absolute monster of a car is powered by Ford's
handbuilt Voodoo Coyote 5.2L V8 motor which is mated to a 6-speed
manual transmission. With one press of the ignition button, the car
comes to life with a goosebump-inducing roar. The flat-plane crank
used in these motors has a distinct visceral sound to it and is
unlike anything else. All 526 horsepower is sent to the rear wheels
which are very special in their own right. Differentiating the R
from the regular GT350s is an oil cooler that maintains proper oil
viscosity even under the harshest of track conditions. Also
specific to the R is a stiffer Magnaride dampening system.
At all four corners, you will find 19-inch carbon fiber wheels
wrapped in special tires Michelin designed specifically for these
Shelby Mustangs. Shaving weight is everything when it comes to
lowering lap times and that is what separates the GT350 from the
GT350R. With the carbon fiber wheels, while it only may save a few
pounds that add up when you consider the wheels are constantly
spinning adding massive amounts in rotational mass. Other unique
features to the GT350R include the carbon fiber grille insert and
rear wing which is substantially larger than the standard
GT350.
Externally the car is finished in the striking color of Race Red
which is accented perfectly by the black wheels and trim. In the
name of reducing weight, Ford removed the standard radio, air
conditioning, and other comfort features from the GT350R, but the
selling owner added them back in as part of the $2,000 electronics
package. With this electronics package, you get Ford's Sync
infotainment system which allows for Bluetooth connectivity and
Apple CarPlay, along with standard radio, navigation, and climate
settings. Sitting in the seats you will be held in place as Ford
gave the GT350R Recaro seats which are heavily bolstered. The
interior is finished in Ebony with Red Accent Recaro seats.
Alcantara wrapped the steering wheel which is loaded with buttons
to control nearly every feature of this exceptional vehicle. This
car has just over 1200 miles since new and has many of the original
protective coverings still in place such as on the floor and the
touchscreen. The vehicle also comes with the original windows
sticker, owners' manual, which is still in the wrapping, car cover,
extra floor mats, and the GT350 camshaft trophy piece which comes
in a collectors case complete with multiple pieces of GT350
literature and is highly collectible.
