1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS5
This is a 4 owner car that spent most of it's life in Florida.
It was built in the Atlanta, GA plant and was shipped down to Ferman Motors in Tampa. The first owner was in Sarasota, the second in Osprey and the third in Delray Beach. The third owner put her into the Barrett -Jackson auction and they assigned the car to the Northeast Auction here in CT at Mohegan Sun where it sold to the current owner.
He's driven it a bit and enjoyed it but as a collector, it's now time to move her on to a new home. He was going to run her through B-J again (hence the lettering on the windshield) but as fate would have it, the auction was cancelled due to the pandemic.
The car was well optioned for Florida weather. It initially had a black vinyl top; A/C (still works, blows cool but not cold); power brakes (discs in front, drums out back); the LS5 454 with 4 BBL carb, dual exhaust, sporting 360 HP and nearly 500lb ft torque.
Other options included 3 speed automatic transmission; wheel well trim; twin horn;, rain drip edge; remote control mirror; bucket seats; console; gauge package; lights in the glove box, mirror, ash tray, trunk, and underhood (there is supposed to be a lit mirror on the passenger visor, that was omitted during the restoration); power steering; rear defrost and the big deal ones (aside from the LS 5 pkg), 12 bolt, positraction, 3:31 rear end, and the F41 performance suspension.
In 2008 the car went through a full, body off restoration where the owner spent well over $75,000. There are thorough receipts for all the work performed. It included a complete rebuild of the 454. This car is pretty much brand new and has less than 3500 miles on it since the restoration. Also included is the original build sheet.
Everything about this car is either perfect or near perfect. In my time photographing the car and studying it for a couple of hours, only two blemishes stood out.. a very small, touched up nick on the fender edge near the rear hood and the silver paint on the steering wheel isn't perfect. Under the hood is very clean and looks like that of a brand new car.. it is not overdone.
The dark green metallic GM paint is the factory color, the interior is the stock black vinyl.
