Factory born tri-power, 4-speed GTO with a 3.55 posi! Documented by
Pontiac Historical Service. Body off the frame restored. Includes a
binder full of restoration documentation.
EXTERIOR: The body has been restored to above average condition. I
don't see any bubbles, significant flaws or damage. The paint has a
glossy finish. Upfront the bumper is rechromed, the grills were
cleaned up, has original headlight bezels. The emblems, rocker
moldings, wheel well moldings, look fresh. In back it has it's
original ribbed tail panel, rechromed bumper. New windshield. Door
jambs are clean, weatherstrip looks new. Has a new set of 15 inch
Torque Thrust wheels with new tires, fatter in the back.
INTERIOR: All new reproduction upholstery, door panels, armrests,
carpet, headliner and visors. They should have put new cushions in
the front seats, that can be done and still reuse the new
upholstery. Dash area is nice, it's been repainted. Has a
tachometer on the column, gauges below the dash and a walnut
steering wheel.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: That is a 455 motor sitting underneath that
tri-power carb set up. The 455 block was bored 30 over. Has Ram Air
lV cam and performance built heads. This is a functional ram air,
the scoop is cut out and it has the pan that seals to the hood.
Upgraded aluminum radiator, has a new shroud. New power brake
system with dual master reservoir. It also has power steering. New
alternator, new chrome valve covers, the wiring is very tidy.
Battery is secured properly. The engine compartment painted
nicely.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Solid metal trunk floor. Has 2 piece mat and
matching tire cover. Has jack and spare. New weatherstrip.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the frame so a thorough
restoration could be done under the car. The chassis was completely
restored, front end components were all rebuilt or replaced
including ball joints, bushings, sway bar, shocks etc. In back the
suspension is rebuilt too. New shocks. This GTO has the ride and
handling package which includes sway bars and boxed control arms.
The frame was prepped and painted. The brake system has been
completely redone. Upgraded to disc in front. New brake lines,
parking brake cable assembly. Fuel system looks new- the tank,
straps, sending unit, fuel lines and fuel pump. Exhaust system is
new. The bottom of the body is clean metal painted black. The body
was reattached to the frame with new rubber bushings. Bottom of the
motor is clean and painted. The Muncie 4-speed looks fresh.
U-joints are new. Has 10 bolt 3.55 posi rear end with a new chrome
cover.
The fact it is was born a GTO with tri-power, 4-speed and a posi is
a big deal. Underneath and mechanical restoration appears to be
high quality. To bring it to the next level some of the trim could
be restored and new seat cushions. Nice as-is but this car warrants
going the extra. I personally drove this car home and around town.
It was great, ran strong!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
