The rarest, most desirable 1978 Pace car- L-82 performance motor
with a 4-speed! Only 3,600 actual miles. Once owned by Pro Team
Corvette, they are experts in regards to Vettes. They verified this
is an all original survivor in excellent condition and stated the
miles as actual.
EXTERIOR: Strongly believed to be all original paint. Amazing
condition considering it is 42 years old. I also want to mention
the obvious, this color combination is incredible. The two tone
black and silver with red accents are the best. I'm inspecting it
with a flashlight. I did not find signs of any overspray, tapelines
or other signs of being repainted. The rubber bumpers and spoilers
are in excellent condition and fit very well. No damage, there are
some minor age cracks along the bonding strips. The paint shows
really well, still glossy. There will be minor imperfections of
course but you have to look for them. The Pace car decals and
striping are excellent. Has power antenna. Mirrored t-tops are
excellent. Glass is all excellent Door jambs are clean, weather
strips are still soft and shows the original glue from the factory.
Blacked out trim around the windows is nice. The wheels still have
a very polished look and has original Goodyear tires.
INTERIOR: I love that all silver interior, it is like the cockpit
of a spaceship. Very sporty leather seats are in excellent shape.
Center console is not beat up, has the factory Am-Fm stereo with an
8-track. I noticed the clock is working, has 3,600 miles exactly.
The leather wrapped steering wheel has no wear at all, tilt-
telescopic. Door panels are mint. The inside is excellent front to
back.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Very well preserved original condition. It has
not been spray canned or altered. Has it's VIN number matching,
optional L-82 performance motor which includes an aluminum intake
and finned aluminum valve covers. It still has it's complete air
cleaner assembly with all the snorkels and tubes. Has the ignition
shielding, factory smog pump is still hooked up. It features power
steering, power brakes and air conditioning. The a/c actually blows
ice cold, it has been converted to the 134A freon. The light works
under the hood. Belts were changed, originals were saved.
UNDERSIDE: Very well preserved, not painted over or messed with.
Shocks were replaced, the originals were saved. Still has factory
tags on the springs. Bushings look good. Brakes have been serviced,
has disc at all four wheels. Bottom of the motor is dry, still has
assembly line crayon marking on oil pan. It has it's original vin #
matched close ratio 4-speed. Exhaust is good, still has catalytic
converter. Spare tire carrier is complete, has spare and lock. No
signs of damage.
This car was collectable the day it was sold new. That is why the
miles are so low. It has lived a pampered life. A box of
documentation, manuals and literature is included. It has never
been judged so the opportunity is there to enjoy that process. This
is the holy grail of 1978 pace cars!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
