For Sale: 1950 Chevrolet 3600 in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

After a decade of selling the most desirable classic and collector cars on the planet, we're happy to still be celebrating firsts. As diehard car enthusiasts, we enjoy stocking our showroom with pretty much anything that's in demand, historic or just plain cool. That's how we got our hands on this boss Chevy 3600! No, it's not the first rat rod we've ever offered. That honor goes to the NASCAR-based 3100 we sold a few years back. What this Chevy is, is the first tow truck we've ever offered! Okay, we know... Enough with the jokes and semantics, right? Well, we'll just leave it at this: if you're a schooled enthusiast who loves unique classics, but fails to take a look at this killer Chevy, the joke's on you.

24-HOUR TOWING

Officially the ton version of Chevrolet's vaunted Advanced Design series, this 3600 has likely spent its entire life looking tough and being dependable. And because of that, its current retro tow truck livery looks just as natural as a bowtie in victory circle! At the front of this custom, a painted, low rider-style bumper centers a snazzy Route 66 tag amid a white-trimmed grille and stainless-trimmed headlights that sport orange, poker-style visors. Behind that grille, a pinstriped hood leads the eye to a split-screen greenhouse, which props a long visor over polished wipers. At the sides of that Chevrolet-branded bonnet, lollipop-style turn indicators lead industrial mirrors, factory steps and traditional door handles. At the back of those steps, an old school Tow Body centers a vintage 7UP cooler and vintage Jerry Cans between a retro rotator and retro fender skirts. And the back of the truck is illuminated by trick Blue Dot Taillights.

TRIED AND TRUE

Check the truck's blue-collar engine bay and you'll find 350 cubic inches of proven GM crate engine that mixes modern reliability with timeless fun! At that top of that trusty iron block, a customized air cleaner feeds wind to a modern Edelbrock carburetor, which rides a coated, aluminum intake. At the back of that intake, a hot HEI distributor swirls fire around Corvette-style valve covers with the help of quality Taylor plug wires. Those covers balance polished breathers opposite iron heads and vintage exhaust manifolds. Fresh V-belts spin modern power steering under a modern AC compressor and a fresh-looking alternator. And a big Champion radiator floats an electric puller fan beside a bright expansion tank.

THAT'S 3600, NOT 3100

Crawling under this brazen bowtie reveals thoughtfully upgraded suspension that complements an independent front-clip with a full set of adjustable air bags. The 350's power flows through a reliable 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Turns come courtesy of fluid power steering. Stops are led by a floor-mounted booster, which clinches a duo of discs in front of a duo of drums. Aluminized pipes funnel spent gases through rowdy Flowmaster mufflers, which align with polished stainless stacks. And everything rolls on polished Budd wheels, which spin 215/60R15 Sailun Atrezzos in front of 225/75R16 Thunderer Commercial L/Ts.

BAD TO THE BONE

Rotate this Chevy's doors and you'll find a nice upgrade of leather on the bench seat that's traced by modern lap belts. In front of that throne, a pinstriped dash hangs clean Dolphin telemetry between retrofitted AC vents and factory stainless that conceals a modern Sony CD player. Fade-free carpet frames a weathered Lokar shifter. Simple side panels cage quality Pioneer kick speakers. And the driver spins a polished and leather-wrapped steering wheel around a tilting column.

The classic truck market has never been better, and offerings like this cool 3600 are a perfect testament why. Mixing an all-American drivetrain with one-of-a-kind character, this Chevy is guaranteed to gain fans everywhere it goes. Looking for a standout custom that'll provide years of great memories? Don't miss the chance to add this sweet Chevy to your collection!
