When McLaren introduced its 675LT at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and
touted the updated version of the 650S' lighter curb weight, its
more powerful engine, its uprated brakes, and its track-honed
suspension, many owners formed a queue to trade up. A select few
saw the opportunity to update and modify the already potent 650S
and that is just what happened with this Spyder.
With the goal of outperforming the 675LT in mind, the car was
shuffled off to Hypercar Development of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A modified ECU paired with race-style catalytic converters amps up
the twin-turbo V-6 to nearly 800 horsepower at the rear wheels.
Upgraded cooling and a reworked rear fairing help ensure
factory-style usability as well. The 173-hp boost over stock is
handled by an uprated seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with a
limited-slip differential as well as a race-style clutch. This 650S
looks the part, too, with its 675LT-style front bumper and carbon
fiber trim on its side skirts, splitters, and diffuser.
Ride height is lowered by about an inch with an underbelly skid
plate fitted to ensure real-world usability. Carbotech
high-performance brake pads and racing-grade brake fluid bring the
car to a rapid halt. Additional upgrades over stock include a roll
cage and carbon fiber-backed seats compatible with three-point
seatbelts. Now showing just under 11,000 miles, the car has been
put through its paces and has joined the International Mile Racing
Association's 200-mph club. Needless to say, the 675LT-level
performance goal was both met and exceeded by Hypercar with this
650S. It comes with manuals with pouch, parts, and spare wheels
with tires (see condition photos).
The opportunity to acquire a piece of performance history only
comes so often, and this 650S Spyder has already done the heavy
lifting. To view this car and others currently consigned to this
