Vehicle Description
This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 is the real-deal Super Sport
that has been restored with an accurate eye everywhere you look. So
if you not only love a detail-oriented classic, but also serious
big block power, then you know you're looking at the right muscle
car.
Madeira Maroon is a great factory color to have. You get a similar
boldness to red, but there's also a deeper and more sophisticated
tone. It seems like the right quality to have, because '66 was one
of the few years for the flying buttress on the hardtop that gives
this an upper-class look. This whole coupe has a well-done
presentation because it was given a frame-off restoration in the
early 2000s. And when you pay for quality, it endures. As a
real-deal SS396, you also get the right sporty pieces, including
the correct hood w/simulated vents, ribbed rockers, and Super Sport
badging. So the whole car looks correct, sophisticated, and
respected.
The interior continues the restoration's eye for authenticity. You
have a factory-correct black bucket seat setup that looks nice,
right down to the bright trim on the seatbacks. There are great
classic details everywhere from the desirable center console to the
AM radio that's still on display. And the driver especially gets a
true vintage experience. The dual-spoke Chevy sports steering wheel
gives you a clear view to the crisp gauges. This is a correct
replacement set, so you have a clean look but all the right pieces,
including the desirable oil pressure readout. And the correct
knee-knocker tach as well with that bright shifter that's just
calling out for your right hand.
Filling the engine bay is big block Chevy power. You'll love how
this has a look of correctness with bold block, shining valve
covers, and matching air cleaner. This 396 cubic-inch V8 was
carefully rebuilt to L35 specs, and there has only been about 1,000
miles on it since. So the fresh look is more than just skin deep.
The Holley 650 CFM four-barrel carburetor w/electric choke and HEI
ignition means this big block fires up readily and inhales deeply.
Plus, the long tube headers add power while making a sweetly subtle
tune through the Dynomax dual exhaust. And you have full control
over it all with the M20 four-speed manual transmission that was
rebuilt at the same time as the motor. This feeds a 12-bolt
Positraction rear end with versatile 3.08 gears. The suspension and
steering was rebuilt during the restoration for a confident feeling
on the road. Plus, there are desirable performance features, like
the boxed trailing arms, rear sway bar, and power brakes w/discs up
front.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, build receipts,
and restoration photos. The original 3.31 rear gear, drive shaft,
fuel tank, and other components are also available if desired. This
is the SS396 with the right look, features, and investments. So you
don't want to let this deal slip away, call today!
