For Sale: 1936 Ford Roadster in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

In what sometimes seems like an endless sea of yellow hot rods, red coupes and black roadsters, it's always nice to find a custom that stands out from the crowd. After all, isn't the true spirit of hot rodding to create something exclusive? Well, if you're looking for a classic that's subtle, well executed, exclusive and at the same time unique, RK Motors Charlotte has the car for you. Built from the ground up, this sweet 1936 Ford roadster mixes serious show credentials with a relaxed driving experience!

BRILLIANT BUT COOL

So many hot rods are built for show, with little chance of ever rolling the street. Paraded around on trailers and locked behind red ropes, these cars are amazing to look at but often not that fulfilling from an ownership perspective. And therein lies the beauty of this cool Ford. Built to show alongside the best trailer queens, it can also handily keep up with most street bruisers. Assembly started when a Fairlane fiberglass body was married to a steel hood, steel fenders and steel running boards. Once that union was smooth and solid, unique R-M 2-stage took the form of Brilliant Copper and Chrysler Cool Vanilla. And those opposite but complementary colors were divided by a tan pinstripe that coordinates nicely with the car's Ultraleather interior and Hartz retractable top.

At the front of this custom, a contoured '36 Ford bumper frames custom '37 Ford headlights that have been finished with an HID conversion and LED turn signals. A Brilliant Copper grille features excellent looking stainless that flows over a 4-piece hood en route to a custom windshield. That shield, chopped by 3.5 inches, props a hand-operated Bob Drake wiper under a quality Haartz top. Shaved door handles mean that flash is scarce, with curved mirrors, original-style hinges and polished strakes being the only brightwork on the car's silky profile. And at the back of that profile, a second '36 Ford bumper splits the difference between polished exhaust, a polished fuel cap and LED-lit '35 Ford taillights.

TRADITIONAL BUT BETTER

Fold the hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of polished and color matched small block that's ready for miles of effortless cruising! A polished air cleaner shuffles wind into a 600cfm Edelbrock Endurashine carburetor that's complete with braided fuel lines. At the bottom of that Lokar-controlled carb, a chromed Edelbrock Performer EPS intake reflects billet valve covers and a stainless-trimmed GM HEI distributor. Fired by quality American Auto Wire wiring, that distributor shoots sparks through blue Summit Racing wires, which trace familiar billet looms. Cooling is provided by an aluminum Griffin radiator. Spent gases exit through coated shorty headers. And aesthetically, the car's body-matched engine bay features a stack of cool accessories, like a polished alternator, a coated fuel pump, billet pulleys, billet brackets and a trick transmission dipstick.

TRADITIONAL BUT BETTER, TOO

Bottom-side, a boxed, Fatman-style frame has been powder-coated to match both this Ford's engine block and copper-tinged body. That chassis gets pushed by a color-keyed Ford 9-inch that's finished with fun, 3.70 gears. That pumpkin is led by modern power rack-and-pinion steering, which sails a familiar Mustang II suspension that's finished with tubular control arms and polished coil-overs. A body-matched 700R4 4-speed uses a Bowler Lock Up to provide reliable shifts. Stops are achieved through 11-inch, power assisted discs and reliable, power-assisted drums. True-dual exhaust feeds Jegs Performance mufflers. A steady flow of fossils streams from a Bob Drake fuel tank. And power meets the pavement through 15-inch, powder-coated steelies, which lap polished trim rings and '50 Merc centers.

CUSTOM BUT VINTAGE

Inside the car, a '40 Ford bench rolls supple Ultraleather skin between tasteful Ultraleather door panels and a slick Ultraleather cowl that's branded with a classic Ford "V8" script. In front of that ledge, a '40 Ford dash wraps Brilliant Copper pigment around full Dolphin instrumentation and choice billet trim. A trusty Lokar shifter, paired with Lokar cables and a Lokar emergency brake, props a color-keyed boot on Prairie Tan carpet and thick sound insulation. Tunes come courtesy of a remote-controlled Sony Xplod CD player, which is smartly hidden in the car's glove box. A tilting Billet Specialties column spins an ornate Billet Specialties wheel. And behind the passengers, a wood-trimmed trunk rolls soft Ultraleather around a second prominent Ford "V8" script.
