This 1982 Jeep Scrambler (CJ-8) spent most of its life in
California before going to Idaho in 2014 when the original owner
moved. This Scrambler is extremely clean rust free and it has had a
lot of upgrades along the way to make it what it is now. We
purchased from the 2nd owner who lived in South Dakota. The body on
this CJ-8 is super nice and in excellent original condition. We
found no evidence of rust, rust repair, or patches anywhere. The
original paint (we think it is all original) is also still really
nice and gives it a great cool factor. The color is jamaican Beige.
The last owner did install new Scrambler Decals when he purchased
it because the original ones were in rough shape. The underside is
so nice on this Jeep and still has most of the original paint
underneath. The frame is perfect with no patches. It recently had a
brand new soft top installed and this rig has the factory chrome
grille and side moldings too. The interior is very stock looking
with the exception of the locking center console. It is mostly
original with the exception of the new seats and the 3rd row seat
addition. It will seat 6 people comfortably and maybe 7. The dash
and dash pad are original and in good condition and all of the
lights and gauges work including the clock and factory tach. Door
Panels are also original and still in nice condition.
Mechanically this Jeep is excellent. It has had a lot of nice
mechanical upgrades along the way. It was repowered with a 5.0L V8
Engine from a 1991 Mustang GT. They professionally installed
factory Fuel Injection for ease of running and this thing runs
amazing. The swap was done in California where it passed emissions
in 2013. It had around Jeep 117K miles on it when the swap was done
and it now has around 121K on it. Unsure how many miles are on the
engine, but we found no red flags with it. When they did the swap
they upgraded the radiator to an Aluminum Be Cool and also
stainless headers and new exhaust. The transmission is also from
that 1991 Mustang and it is an Automatic with OD and it still
retains the original Jeep Dana 300 Transfer Case. The suspension is
all newer parts and that includes a 2 Inch Spring Lift with HD
Greasable Shackles, new shocks, stainless brake lines, sway bar
disconnect , HD Spring Pads, New AGR Steering Box and Support
Bracket, 31 Inch Tires on Aluminum Rims and a matching spare.
Overall this is a Sweet Scrambler that runs and drives as good as
it looks. The cool factor is the fact that you have a Vintage
looking Jeep with some nice V8 Power.
