After more than 30 years, sitting on blocks in the garage of its long time third owner, this 100% original, numbers matching, big block 427 390 horsepower 4-Speed C2 Corvette Stingray Coupe is now ready for a new chapter.
Originally sold in Southern California it was purchased by the seller in 1973 and promptly driven to Texas where it has remained since. Sometime around 1975 a high performance cam and piston set was installed turning this car into what the seller called a "monster". Then around 1986 when leaded fuel was no longer available the car required octane boosting fuel additives. As time marched on, with the hassle of additives compounded by brake issues, career demands and life in general, the car fell into disuse. With full intention of getting around to it the car was set on jack stands. Fast forward 30 some odd years and there she sat, until it was rolled out of its long time resting place just weeks ago.
This Goodwood Green Stingray is loaded with stinger hood, rally wheels, power steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes and factory AC. It has 61,111 original miles, original paint, and interior. All numbers match:

It is a genuine time capsule; a true survivor.
But this car will need attention to get running. The engine turns over but rather than take unnecessary steps just to get it running poorly we elected to offer it as is.
Its an open book as to what can be done with this car. Give it a mechanical refresh and its a charming survivor/driver. Restore it to its original glory and its a Concours winner. Resto-Mod it with an LS swap and its all the rage. Whichever direction its taken in it starts with great bones.
The body is flawless and other than one small worn spot in the tire tool stowage bin there isn't a crack or misaligned panel on this car. The original lacquer paint is chipped, checked, scuffed and stained a bit but it still looks beautiful dressed in all that patina charm. The interior needs little; in fact other than some threadbare carpet and a worn clutch pedal pad it needs nothing to be fully functional and show ready. The only areas of corrosion are on the battery tray and the radiator support brackets. Under the hood, the L36 engine is all there; only the distributor shield is absent. The AC compressor and supporting brackets were removed long ago but have been retained all these years for reinstallation.
The C2 Corvette Stingray is one of the most important cars GM ever built. It was a completely different car than the first generation Corvette. By 1967, the refinement put it on the world stage. The C3 carried much of these mechanical refinements over unchanged right through to 1982. The C2 is arguably the most iconic and collectible of all Corvettes and the Big Block cars like this one are hands down the most sought after
