Vehicle Description
1982 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Roadster
Vintage Mercedes, like this 380SL, are the perfect combination of
old-world luxury and universal appeal. Fast, luxurious, stylish and
built like a Panzer tank, they're the first choice of many classic
car collectors who like to both show and drive their metal. With no
collision or major body damage, this rock-solid Benz is a
keeper.
Consigner stated 56,485 miles are showing on this SL. An all
original car that shows the passage of time, and use, with patina,
blemishes, and a few dents and dings. Mechanically sound, and
beautiful interior which is very clean. An undercarriage that looks
rust free, this is the perfect car if you're one of those Daimler
diehards who's looking for the ultimate in 'old school', it's a
nice find!
Exterior
Light blue paint covers this W102 Series body style and looks good
overall. A new convertible top is stored below the hardtop which
has a new rear seal. The hardtop is in nice shape with brite work
and paint quality. Chromed mirrors, and bumpers are in good shiny
condition. Steel wheels are standard Mercedes-Benz issue. New
carpeting has been installed in the trunk floor, and all exterior
lighting is functioning well.
Interior
Dark Blue MB-Tex covers the front bucket seats which are in very
nice condition with no tears and very little show of wear or
folding. A large dual arm rest is seen between the seats. Below
this is a console in blue plastic that has straight grain veneer
inserts which flow upward towards the dash. This area houses the
gearshift, window switches, and temperature selector wheel with
airflow option buttons. Moving upward we see a Becker radio and
cassette player, and toggles for antenna up and down, fog lights
and rear defrost for the hardtop. Consigner states that the AC
system has been upgraded to the new R134A, however the compressor
will not engage. Instrument cluster has nice covers and original
steering wheel with airbag.
Drivetrain
A fuel injected Daimler Benz BV8 engine with a 4-speed automatic
transmission attached powers this car. Some corrosion on the
aluminum parts within the engine bay is seen.
Undercarriage
Totally rust free, and very good is seen when giving the underside
a peek. All is clean, and some oiling is present, but unremarkable
for a car this age.
A hardtop dolly, cover for the hardtop, 2 car covers, and the
original radio are being included with the purchase of this car. A
nice example from 1982, and your chance to get a reliable driver in
the form of an earlier model, at an affordable price.
