Vehicle Description
This 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS 482 is a fully restored machine that
has been carefully crafted to deliver everything you want. That
means a terrific color combo, a leather-lined A/C interior,
four-wheel disc brakes, four-on-the-floor, and a dual-quad stroker
V8 with a street earing 570+ horsepower! It has also won trophies
or awards at every show it's attended including two awards at the
2018 Super Chevy Show!
This Chevy has the kind of story we all look for. It was an Arizona
project car that was taken to the next level by the consignor. So
that means a solid body that was the ideal starting point for a
slick black presentation. The paint presents a deep luster and
gloss that proves they took the time to prep and paint this
correctly. This is a hardtop that was professionally converted into
a droptop, and so that means pieces like the new power folding
roof, fresh weatherstripping, and a glass rear window. Of course,
chrome and brightwork was king in the '60s, and this one has the
kind of investment that makes sure it rivals the paint for shine.
It includes the mirror-like bumpers, a full-width shiny grille,
upgraded polished torque thrust wheels. And of course, it gets the
sporty look right with the full-length trim with the machine-tuned
insert. The rear panel matches the side trim while framing the
hallmark three-taillight arrangement. It's a total package that
signals high quality and plenty of power.
As much as we like the look of the black roof against the slick
black paint, we absolutely love taking the top down to reveal the
bold red interior. This is a Ciadella leather interior, and
upper-end quality they deliver instantly shows. Not only do the
seats feel supple, but the bright piping coordinates nicely with
the trim on the doors and dash. Plush carpeting, matching floor
mats, a leather dash cap proves this one even impresses in the
details. Modern R134a air conditioning means this is the kind of
full-size convertible where everyone will want to go for a ride.
But you also know this one is all about the driver. The upgraded
leather & chrome steering wheel, full gauge package w/vertical
tach, auxiliary gauge trio, and cue ball shifter are all there to
give you the right tingle of performance.
Wherever you go, you're going to love lifting the hood and
showcasing the motor. The tidy presentation is show-ready, and the
valve covers have the unmistakable look of the first gen Chevy big
blocks. But the callout on this one is a true indication of a
serious performance build. They started with a legendary 409ci X
block and set it to the masters at Lamar Walden Automotive. It was
built into a 482 cubic-inch stroker motor that has been enhanced
and fortified with a four-inch Scat forged rotating assembly,
10.5:1 compression, Lamar Walden aluminum heads, Comp Cams
hydraulic rollers, and a special Walden/Comp Cams camshaft. It's
topped with dual Edelbrock 500 CFM four-barrel carburetor. The dual
exhaust gives a nice tune that lets you know this is powerful
without being obnoxious. That's especially impressive when you see
the dyno sheet that proves this is putting down a monster 572 hp
and 602 ft-lb of torque! The rebuilt Borg Warner four-speed is a
stout unit that gives you full control over the power, and that
feeds a strong Currie 9-inch rear. It's built to be a true driver's
machine, and so you have upgrades like rack & pinion power
steering, a Hotchkis rear end with sway bar, and Wilwood four-wheel
disc brakes.
