1968 Dodge Charger with the original 383 Magnum V-8, (4 bbl carb.) and the original TorqueFlite 727 3-speed automatic. The car has been repainted in its original color (Med Tan Metallic, YY1) with a base+clear, better than when new.
Black vinyl top was replaced at some point and is in perfect condition. Car was equipped with factory A/C. Brakes were originally drums all around, but this car has been converted to front disk brakes and they work perfectly. Interior is black with vinyl seats. Seat covers are in excellent condition, as are the door cards, headliner, and dashpad. Headliner and seat covers were replaced at some point with factory-correct materials.
Instrument panel is in good condition, but shows some patina, as would be expected. The steering wheel shows some wear. AC and heat are temperamental, and need work to be reliable. Speedo / odo, fuel gauge, temp gauge, oil pressure gauge, and alternator gauge all work properly. Vacuum-operated hideaway headlights work properly and headlights have been replaced with brighter incandescent units (no LEDs). Wipers also work correctly. As with most of these old Chargers, the tic-tock-tach does not work, nor does the original Music-Master AM radio.
There is what appears to be minor bubbling in the paint in two places: In front of the rear DS wheel opening, down low (see photo) and low on the rocker panel below the PS door. This has been stable / unchanged the entire time I have owned the car (14 years) and I was advised to leave it alone. The rear quarters have had some repair work at some point (at least 15 years ago), but they look great. The car is clean and totally rust-free underneath. The floor pans, trunk pan, and frame rails are all super-clean and rust-free. The original bill of sale from 1968, original build sheet, and original Certi-Card all come with the car. Overall, this is a beautiful and highly original '68 Charger. It turns heads everywhere is goes.
