The E-Type was launched as a sports car honed from Jaguar's
experience and victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The fixed-head
coupe stunned the world when it was unveiled by Sir William Lyons
at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961. With a top speed of 240 km/h, it
was rumoured that Enzo Ferrari described it as 'the most beautiful
car in the world'. In 1964 Jaguar sought to bring some updates to
the E-Type. The engine block was redesigned, raising cubic capacity
to 4,235 cc for greater torque, and was mated to a new
all-synchromesh gearbox. There was also a new alternator and an
improved Lockheed brake servo to boost stopping power. Outward
appearance remained unchanged, but inside there were improved
seats, and the turned aluminium fascia was replaced with leather
more in keeping with its grand-touring nature.
This example left the Browns Lane factory destined for the United
States, where it was registered in July 1966. It was then imported
into Germany in 1988 and enjoyed by its owner until 2011, when it
was given a no-expense-spared restoration. This included an
extensive engine overhaul that renewed all vital parts and
replacement of some body panels. Upgrades included a
stainless-steel exhaust system, a full brake overhaul, rear axle
rebuild, and the fitting of wider Dayton wire wheels to improve the
handling. Even the engine block was finished in the correct gold as
part of the mechanical overhaul. The stunning body was finished in
2009 in Westminster Blue with Mulberry leather interior. It is
fully registered for road use in Germany, but has barely been used
since work was completed and would surely revel in being returned
to the open road.

Der Jaguar E-Type ist ein Sportwagen entstanden aus den Erfahrungen

Automobilsalon durch Sir William Lyons selbst enth�llt. Ger�chten
zufolge hatte Enzo Ferrari den 240 km/h schnellen E einmal als �das
sch�nste Auto der Welt" bezeichnet. 1964 brachte Jaguar einige
Neuerungen f�r den Sportwagen, darunter einen weiterentwickelten
Motorblock mit nunmehr 4.235 cm� Hubraum f�r ein besseres
Drehmoment, ein vollsynchronisiertes Getriebe, neue Lichtmaschine
und verbesserte Servobremsen von Lockheed. Nach au�en blieb der
E-Type unver�ndert, doch im Inneren gab es neue Sitze, w�hrend das
ehemals aus gedrehtem Aluminium gefertigte Armaturenbrett nun im
Stil eines Grand Tourers mit Leder �berzogen war.
Dieses Exemplar verlie� das Werk in Browns Lane in Richtung
Vereinigte Staaten, wo es im Juli 1966 zum ersten Mal zugelassen
wurde. 1988 importierte es ein neuer Besitzer nach Deutschland, wo
2011 eine Komplettrestaurierung ohne R�cksicht auf Kosten
durchgef�hrt wurde. Dazu geh�rten eine tiefgehende Motorrevision
mit Ersatz aller wichtigen Bauteile sowie einiger Karosseriebleche.
Durchgef�hrte Verbesserungen betrafen auch eine neue
Edelstahlauspuffanlage, eine komplette �berholung von Bremsen und
Achsen, sowie breitere Speichenfelgen von Daytona f�r besseres
Handling. Selbst der Motorblock wurde in der korrekten Goldfarbe
neu lackiert. Die atemberaubende Karosserie in westminster blue
kontrastiert mit dem Lederinterieur in mulberry. Der in Deutschland
stra�enzugelassene Wagen wurde seit den umfangreichen Arbeiten nur
wenig bewegt und ist bereit f�r eine intensivere Nutzung.To view
