If anything can be more enjoyable than driving a Porsche, it would
be driving an open-air Porsche. Here is an outstanding
US-specification 356 B Cabriolet, a perfect basis for a restoration
project. It was completed on 20 February 1963 and shipped to
Porsche Cars Pacific in Burlingame, California, near San Francisco,
where it was sold to the Dalzell Graham Company. The second owner
is shown as having been Mr Warren King of nearby Vallejo. The
Kardex contains little data beyond the original paint colour,
Elfenbein or Ivory, its interior material as red leather, and the
engine and transmission numbers, 806854 and 62336, respectively.
Two service entries are noted, in May of 1963 and February of 1964.
At some later date, the original Type 616/7 Super 90 engine was
replaced by a period-correct Type 616/12 1600 Super bearing engine
number 700839.
This car was eventually returned to Germany, where its lighting and
instruments were converted to European standard. The car has no
soft top but is accompanied by a rare factory hard top. Its
odometer currently displays 88,600 km. Benefiting from an older
restoration, this would be an excellent basis for a
restoration.

Gibt es etwas Sch�neres, als einen Porsche zu fahren? Ja, einen
offenen Porsche zu fahren. Hier haben wir ein Exemplar einer
US-Version des 356 B Cabriolet der als prefekte Basis f�r ein
Restaurationsobjekt dient. Der am 20. Februar 1963 fertiggestellte
356 wurde anschlie�end an Porsche Cars Pacific im kalifornischen
Burlingame in der N�he von San Francisco ausgeliefert, die ihn an
die Dalzell-Graham Co. verkauften. Als zweiter Besitzer ist ein Mr.
Warren King im nahen Vallejo/CA verzeichnet. Die Kardex gibt
Auskunft �ber die originale Farbe elfenbein und die Sitzbez�ge in
rotem Leder sowie die Motornummer 806854 und die Getriebenummer
62336. Dar�ber hinaus enth�lt sie nur wenig weitere Informationen;
so sind zwei Wartungsbesuche im Mai 1963 und im Februar 1964
verzeichnet. Zu einem sp�teren Zeitpunkt wurde der Originalmotor
Typ 616/7 Super 90 durch einen zeitgen�ssischen Typ 616/12 1600
Super mit der Motornummer 700839 ersetzt.
Sp�ter wurde dieser Porsche zur�ck nach Deutschland importiert, wo
Beleuchtung und Instrumente auf den deutschen Standard umger�stet
wurden. Der km-Tachometer zeigt derzeit 88.600 Kilometer
Laufleistung an. Der Wagen hat kein Verdeck aber ein seltenes
Hardtop. Dieser Wagen eignet sich ideal als hervorragende Basis f�r
eine Restauration.
