Vehicle Description
When it comes to nearly universal appeal, few cars bring it quite
like a big Chevy. While a lot of classics place an emphasis on
speed, style or some other singular piece of the puzzle, retro
full-sizers continue to thrive as a malleable definition of
everything to everyone. With almost all the dials turned past 11,
this tailored Impala resto-mod is a car that'll fulfill the needs
of virtually any enthusiast. And, from its stout LS2 power and
smooth 4L65E drivetrain to its lowered suspension and custom
upholstery, pretty much any spectator with a pulse can find
something to admire!
TAN: FROM TAME TO TOUGH
An authentic Impala Super Sport that was the subject of high
quality restoration, this sweet cruiser is definitely built for
keeps. From casual glances to long looks, the car exudes a sense of
quality that comes from countless hours of work and serious credit
card bills. With straight panels and impressive panel fitment, its
body sets the standard for what to expect from the rest of the
build. There are no notable modifications, aside from creamy
2-stage that would've been unimaginable in the mass-production
world in 1965. And overall, this slick resto-mod is right at home
turning heads on the road OR claiming trophies at a show.
Not surprisingly, this Chevy's unique pigment creates a fabulous
foundation for a select array of mirrored bolt-ons. At the front of
the car, a tan-trimmed bumper props polished guards in front of a
polished Super Sport grille, bright parking lamps and modern
headlights. At the top of that grille, a streamlined Chevrolet
header leads a stainless-ridged hood, which fronts smoked glass
that's planted in polished frames and polished wipers. At the base
of that glass, a silky profile hangs stylish rocker spears between
traditional door handles, polished wheel lips and classy bowtie
mirrors. And at the back of that profile, a slim Super Sport
valance splits a second broad bumper and jet-inspired taillights
that frame a second Chevrolet header.
GET YOUR THRIL (LS)
Under the hood, an even six liters of proven GM LS2, tuned by
Garner, North Carolina's RPM Motorsports, spins 378 rear-wheel
horsepower into 329 lb./ft. of rear-wheel torque! At the front of
the Deep Blue mill, a conical filter funnels wind in to a handsome
metal intake by way of a factory throttle body. Under that "LS2"
branded box, a factory serpentine drive spins modern power steering
and a factory alternator opposite an Old Air Products AC
compressor. At the sides of those ancillaries, hot MSD Street Fire
Wires split Hedmans-coated Muscle Rods headers. Polished valve
covers cap familiar 243 heads, which make excellent use of a
quality Lunati cam and a tough Lunati valvetrain. A beefy aluminum
radiator hangs a billet expansion tank next to big electric puller
fans. Details like an Aeromotive pressure gauge, billet Eddie
Motorsports hood supports, a billet oil cap and polished Wilwood
brake components ensure first-class presentation. And all that
glitz is framed in glossy 2-stage, which coats smooth fenders and a
crisp firewall.
CONQUER THE ROAD
Behind that small block, a proven 4L65E 4-speed funnels torque to a
tough 10-bolt axle. That drivetrain rides a rebuilt and lowered
suspension that's been augmented with tubular control arms, thick
sway bars and 2-inch drop spindles. Stops are provided by 4 and
6-piston Wilwood calipers, which cinch a quartet of drilled and
slotted rotors. At the center of the floor, large-diameter exhaust
pipes shuffle spent gases through an X-shaped crossover and throaty
Magnaflow mufflers. And all that mechanical goodness rolls on
chromed Ridler wheels, which spin 245/45ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force
Sports in front of 275/40ZR20 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports.
BLUE THROUGH AND THROUGH
Pop the doors and you'll find a choice custom interior that was
installed by the pros at Roanoke, Virginia's Horne's Auto
Upholstery. Modern, Impala-branded buckets feature power adjustment
for the car's driver. Opposite those thrones, a Deep Blue dash
hangs Dakota Digital VHX telemetry above hardware for the car's
modern air conditioning. At the floor, premium carpet floats thick
mats between modern GTO pedals and a custom, full-length console
that's boxed around a classy Lokar shifter and modern Kenwood
audio. Custom, "Impala" branded door panels front a full suite of
power-operated windows. And in front of the driver, a polished
steering wheel laps a painted, tilting column.
Wrapping the flair of early 1960s optimism around the flash of
modern performance, car's like this sweet Impala resto-mod are
universally appealing. More to point, this classy Super Sport
represents 'muscle motoring' at its very finest, combining stunning
visuals with clean restoration and no-excuses power. Call your
